Project Overview:
Bechtel’s focus on renewables and clean energy is helping our customers deliver transformational renewables and clean energy projects. Bechtel renewables team will perform the project management, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and startup for the Mammoth South, Central I and Central II project for a 376MW DC each (Total of 1.1GW DC) solar plant in Pulaski County, Indiana.
Job Summary:
The Cost Engineer will be responsible for cost engineering, cost estimating, cost analysis/control. Directs the preparation and presentation of market level financial reports and forecasts. Provides non-routine cost engineering and financial forecasting guidance. Identifies, analyzes, and provides innovative solutions to cost engineering problems, processes, and procedures. Supports project organizational and administrative activities. In this role, you will perform routine cost estimating, analysis, and control activities and support the implementation of cost monitoring and control standards, preparation of cost data, and the project trend program. You will assist with budget allocation and developing quantity takeoffs, project codes, and application unit rates. Your work will help ensure projects stay on budget and excel. #LI-NP1
Major Responsibilities:
Responsible for assigned cost functions. Direct interface with management, and field teams as necessary for cost control monitoring, analysis, and reporting.
Responsible for quarterly financial reporting; works with Project Management team to develop and refine financial reporting strategies, goals, and metrics.
Provides day-to-day support to project team, and detailed monitoring and analysis of project budgets, schedules, and actuals. Interfaces with other members of the project team, customers, and others.
Provides support to project financial reporting and trending functions and the invoice/billing review process as required.
Assists in preparing cost data for proposals or contract negotiations.
Performs or coordinates quantity development and verification for discipline or specialty. Develops, or assists in the development of, quantity bases for the assumption.
Plans, coordinates, and directs preparation of specific budgets. Assists in developing requirements for budgeting standards.
Develops and implements requirements for cost recording, reporting, and analyzing standards, programs, and reports. Performs performance monitoring and control functions.
Assists in developing specific project codes of accounts and recommends appropriate modifications and revisions.
Identifies or defines data sources and techniques for data acquisition and collects required data for a specific discipline or other specialty applications.
Creates and implements measurement systems for given processes, analyzes performance metric results, and identifies improvements.
Provides support to PC Supervisor as requested.
Independently provides financial, cost reporting, trending analysis and recommends corrective actions.
Responsible for analysis, development, and presentation of impact integration measures.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Minimum of 2 - 3 years of project controls experience.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel.
Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing cost engineering functions, which include cost estimating, cost control, cost analysis and financial reporting.
Skilled in oral and written communication.
Previous solar industry experience preferred.
Experience in other areas of project controls (planning, scheduling, estimating, etc.) desirable.
Intermediate level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes.
