Open Door Center Direct Support Professional - Group Home Full-Time Awake Nights in Valley City, North Dakota

Open Door Center is seeking responsible, self motivated Night Owls - to provide services in group homes throughout the night shift. If you love to stay awake, want to have a positive impact on someones life - this may be the shift for you!

What is a DSP: Help another person in their daily life

Where do you work: in a person's home or in the place they live

Job Types: Full-time

In this job, you will provide support, care, and help other people. Tasks of the job may include; cooking, dressing, grooming, washing clothing, help at work. A DSP is responsible to the person they work with. A DSP has to follow rules of the state and their employer. DSPs help people to be safe and happy. A DSP helps another person make choices. DSPs respect others and keep information private. DSP's value the person they are taking care of and know they have value. DSP's learn about the person they work with. DSP's help the person be active in the place they live.

Day to Day Job Task: 1. Work on goals the person has set. 2. Follow the person's care plan. 3. Help the person learn. 4. Help the person go to places where they live. 5. Help the person have a good day. 6. Help the person do things on their own. 7. Help the person clean their home and wash their hands. 8. Help the person bathe, get dressed, and brush their teeth. 9. Write down information about the person's day. 10. Help the person be safe in their home. 11. Follow rules set by the employer. 12. Take trainings from the employer. 13. Work with others in the home and be a member of the team. 14. Respect and maintain privacy. 15. Ask questions. 16. Help a person make choices, 17. Fill out reports on the person's day. 18. Help the person with their money. 19. Respect the person's choices. 20. Be flexible to work at different places or at different times. 21. Help new staff and be a role model 22. Do other duties as asked.

What Education do I need to be a DSP? 1. High school graduate or General Education Development (GED). 2. Must be 18 years of age or older. 3. Have a valid driver's license and can drive. 4. Must complete trainings by the employer and state. 5. Must have a clear background check. 6. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. 7. Must be able to stand, bend, and lift. 8. Must be able to read, write, and speak English. 9. Must be able to add and subtract. 10. Must be able to type on a computer. 11. Must be free of disease.

Sunday 10p - 9a OFF

Monday 10p - 9a OFF

Tuesday 10p - 9a OFF

Wednesday OFF (or 430-9p) 10p - 9a

Thursday OFF 10p - 9a

Friday 430 - 9p (or Wed) 10p - 9a

Saturday

10p - 9a( 10p-12m this week/ 12m-9a next week)

OFF Requires valid drivers license. Must be 18 years old.
