Job Description

The Operations Supervisor - Production supports Human Technologies’ mission of Creating Employment for People with Disabilities by overseeing the day to day operations of manufacturing, assembly, and packaging departments, including production scheduling, material distribution and staffing. Primary responsibilities include employee safety, satisfying customer requirements for delivery and quality, and managing all activities within established cost standards.

Requirements

  1. Responsible for the department’s production planning to include, but not limited to, proper staffing, expediting raw materials, scheduling production, and preventative maintenance of equipment to ensure that all operations run efficiently and customer orders are completed on time.2. Continuously monitor all raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods to ensure that items are properly identified and stored in a manner to minimize waste.3. Monitor the quality of the items being produced and implement processes to continually improve both the quality and efficiency of the department.4. Create and maintain a quality work environment for employees, with priorities to safety, training, and opportunities for growth.5. Support HT’s mission and advocate for the employment of people with disabilities or other barriers to employment on and off the job.6. Create and maintain required records, including labor collection, material transactions, actual vs. planned production, and quality records. Share status with supervisors and employees within departments and report results as required to senior management.7. Collaborate with all operational departments to ensure optimum deployment of workforce to support production requirements.8. Oversee the creation and maintenance of engineered time studies for commensurate paid jobs, and ensure data and forms are accurate prior to submission to payroll department.9. Provide supervision, instruction, incentives, disciplinary actions, training and coaching, and evaluation of performance for direct-reports.10. Fill out accident reports when necessary.11. Provides on the job training to employees and monitors performance to ensure direct reports are competent or moving to competency in their assigned positions.

  2. Approves timesheets for all assigned employees.13. Work with direct-reports and employees in assigned departments to ensure employees are receiving adequate and proper supports to accommodate their disability within their work environments and coordinate all necessary supports.14. Evaluates and documents employee performance as required by the company, AbilityOne, and/or NYSID.15. Support and assists with recruitment and retention activities for area of responsibility.16. Actively participates in corporate safety by following all safety procedures, creating a safe working environment and practicing and training employees in safe and proper work habits and equipment use.17. Perform such other functions as may be assigned by the Director of Manufacturing Operations.

Qualifications:1. Associate’s Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or related discipline, five (5) years’ experience in supervision of an Industrial Manufacturing Department, or a combination of education and work experience that is substantially equivalent to the above.2. Knowledge of business control systems, scheduling, job simplification, inventory control, production control, and workflow methods.3. Ability to lead, train, and assess people to ensure they reach their optimum level of performance.4. Able to lift up to 50 pounds properly.5. Must have a valid Driver’s License, reliable transportation and have and maintain a driving record in accordance with Human Technologies’ Liability/Automotive Insurance carrier.6. Must pass any required federal, state, municipality, and/or customer-specific background checks.
