    Position Summary:

    The Medical Assistant maintains department patient care supplies, ensures timely flow of patients, and assists physicians and nurses to provide optimal care to patients and families.

    Qualifications:

    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS Basic Life Support (BLS). Successful completion of medical terminology course within six (6) months of start date in position. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 2 Years related experience SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Capacity to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures. Demonstrates compassion and caring in dealing with others.

    Essential Functions:

  • Perform a variety of routine direct patient care duties to assist medical and nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients.

  • Maintains patient care environment and supplies to ensure patient privacy and safety.

  • Performs and records patient vital signs on patients of all ages.

  • Has knowledge of how to record patient information using an electronic medical record system.

  • Confirmation telephone calls for next day appointments.

  • Perform point of care testing applicable to patients needs during their appointment.

  • Works closely with nursing staff and physicians to ensure smooth patient flow and create positive team work.
