Position Summary:
The Medical Assistant maintains department patient care supplies, ensures timely flow of patients, and assists physicians and nurses to provide optimal care to patients and families.
Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS Basic Life Support (BLS). Successful completion of medical terminology course within six (6) months of start date in position. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 2 Years related experience SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Capacity to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures. Demonstrates compassion and caring in dealing with others.
Essential Functions:
Perform a variety of routine direct patient care duties to assist medical and nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients.
Maintains patient care environment and supplies to ensure patient privacy and safety.
Performs and records patient vital signs on patients of all ages.
Has knowledge of how to record patient information using an electronic medical record system.
Confirmation telephone calls for next day appointments.
Perform point of care testing applicable to patients needs during their appointment.
Works closely with nursing staff and physicians to ensure smooth patient flow and create positive team work.
