    Position Summary:

    Under supervision, the Lead Radiologic Technologist oversees technical procedures, patient care and work flow in Invasive lab area, including Cardiac, Interventional Radiology, Vascular, and Neuro, to ensure safe and effective patient care. Performs diagnostic and interventional procedures utilizing various imaging equipment to assist in diagnosis of disease and injuries. Responsible for initial and annual training and competencies.

    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Associate's Degree in Radiology CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS IEMA Radiography License Illinois upon hire and Radiography (R)(ARRT) upon hire and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Note: These requirements are subject to overrule at the discretion of Invasive lab manager/director. requireduirement is overruled based on the needs of the department. Manager will be consulted to overrule if applicant is qualified to support the job duties. Must have successfully completed 12 months of employment as a Rad Tech, and must have successfully completed three (3) years of employment with Carle as RT in HVI Procedure Center to be eligible for Level 4. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Positive attitude and demonstrated willingness to assess and improve work environment. Ability to perform multiple tasks while coordinating patient flow and a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgement and initiative. Super User for invasive lab equipment and inventory.

    Essential Functions:

  • Performs all essential functions of the Rad Tech.

  • Serves as a technical resource and subject matter expert for staff, management, and physicians in respective area.

  • Participates in scheduling of department's technical equipment service and/or maintence under the guidance of the Service Line Coordinator.

  • Participates in developing training programs and is accountable for staff onboarding and training. Responsible for ensuring staff has completed new employee orientation and annual employee competencies.

  • Aids in the annual review and periodic updates of department policies and protocols.

  • Performs on call duties and/or work variable shifts as assigned to meet department needs.

  • Performs equipment checks to ensure all equipment is in working order and there is no damage.

  • Aids in supply management to ensure needed supplies are on hand and available for procedures. Including checking expiration dates.

  • Maintains updated physician preference list for procedures.

  • Communicates and collaborates with physicians, managers, support personnel, and staff regarding technical issues to ensure reliability of results and quality assurance in imaging, hemodynamics and oximetry.

  • Acts as Super User for invasive lab equipment and inventory. Organizes training on new equipment/inventory and maintains training needs of staff.

  • Functions as scrub circulator and monitor technician on a rotating basis during procedures. Assists physician during interventional procedures with complex interventional devices, including; Impella, and Intra-aortic balloon pump.

  • Processes digital imaging; titles and labels properly, acts as educator to ensure staff can demonstrate ability to view and transfer images.

  • Collects, analyzes, and interprets hemodynamic and oximetric data.
