The University of Illinois is accepting applications for the Director of Chancellor/Provost Business Services Center in the Office of the Provost. This vital position oversees the operational and fiscal management of the Chancellor/Provost Business Services Center, which serves the Office of the Provost, the Office of the Chancellor, Office of the Vice Chancellor for Administration and Operations and select administrative units that report through those offices, using experience, knowledge, initiative, and independent professional judgment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversees the operational and fiscal management of the Chancellor/Provost Business Services Center, which serves the Office of the Provost, the Office of the Chancellor, Office of the Vice Chancellor for Administration and Operations and select administrative units that report through those offices, including supervising staff in reporting line and ongoing review of service center processes, practices, and procedures to ensure that service level is maintained and improved upon.
  • Work with leadership of select administrative units on budget projections, hiring plans, and other resource planning activities in support of efforts to increase financial literacy.
  • Manages the annual operating budgets for select administrative units, including but not limited to the Office of the Chancellor, and Office of the Provost which includes assisting with Budget Development, Salary Planner, Year-end deficit planning, Fact Sheet preparation, and other financial reports as required.
  • Manages the transfer of campus commitments in the Provost\'s Commitment System. Works with the Executive Associate Provost for Budget and Resource Planning, and the Assistant Provost for Budget and Financial Analysis to compile the transfer supporting documentation.
  • Participates in the annual unit deficit review of campus units and the related follow-up process.
  • Serves on campus and/or University committees as assigned.
  • Serves as FCIAA Campus Administrator and FCIAA College-level reviewer and approver for the Office of the Chancellor, the Office of the Provost, and select administrative units that report through those offices in the annual FCIAA certification process.
  • Oversees comprehensive financial and human resources report development (including compilation of data and maintenance of all databases) for administrators, principal staff, and various committees.
  • Oversees standard financial report development and distribution to Business Services clients on a monthly basis.
  • Manages campus Named Faculty Appointment funding process, per Provost Communication #6, including updating internal records of appointees.
  • Assist with Pre- and Post-award grant administration, including grant/contract submissions, confirmations, and reporting.
  • Participates in professional development workshops, seminars, and classes to enhance professional skills and other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

Required-

  • Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
  • Seven years of experience working in higher education.
  • Significant experience working with university financial and database systems.

Preferred-

  • Seven years of experience working in business and finance at the University of Illinois.

Successful candidates will have the following-

  • Strong technical computer skills to analyze, research and maintain detailed financial data and develop v rious management information documents.
  • Independent decision-making ability, as well as the ability to interpret policy relating to the budget and administrative processes.
  • Position requires maturity, sound judgment, initiative, well- developed organization skills, and the ability to deal with complex, diverse and confidential issues.
  • Extensive knowledge in the use of Banner financial applications, including My UI-Financials and EDW, and human resources applications, preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of university business and accounting financial policies and procedures as well as the ability to interpret them, preferred.

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close of the search. Minimum salary for this position is \$85,000. We strive to provide a competitive salary, considering factors such as available market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints. The final salary offer will be determined through a thorough assessment of these elements. Work authorization sponsorship is not available for this position.
