Benefits-eligible employees participate in a comprehensive set of State of Illinois and University of Illinois group benefit programs. This position will participate in the State Universities Retirement System (SURS) retirement plan with an employer contribution. State group insurance benefits and extended coverage for eligible dependents is available. The State of Illinois covers much of the cost of health and dental coverage, and all of the cost of vision and basic life insurance equal to your annual salary. Other optional benefits such as additional term life insurance, accidental death & dismemberment, and long-term disability are available.

This position will have paid time off. There are nine designated paid holidays plus two floating holidays yearly. This position may earn up to twelve days of vacation per year. Up to twelve paid sick leave days will be available to care for yourself, a member of your household or other eligible family member. Paid parental leave up to six weeks per academic year, immediately following the birth, adoption, or foster placement of a child will be available. Other paid time off includes bereavement, military duty, and jury duty.

This position is eligible for a tuition waiver benefit to continue your education. Release time from work to continue your education may be arranged. Employees with at least seven years of service can apply for a 50% tuition waiver for dependent children.

Job Summary

Will be responsible for food preparation, procurement of food, cleaning supplies and equipment, inventory control, preparing menus, keeping records and preparing reports, and the supervision of staff, including full-time, extra help and student employees in two kitchens.

Duties & Responsibilities

Manage Dining Service Operations Prepare snack menu on a semester basis for ECDL and CDL buildings that meet CACFP and DCFS guidelines/standards. Coordinate with catering service to create a lunch menu for ECDL and CDL buildings that meet CACFP and DCFS standards. Work with kitchen staff to maintain inventory of food to control food costs. Order food weekly from GFS to stock kitchens for snack menus. Monitor food deliveries to ensure food is up to code. Maintain current Nutrition Labels of food served on our snack menus. Plan Family Picnics and other events requested by Administrative Staff. Act as a liaison between classrooms and kitchen staff. Keep record of food allergies and meal choices for children and staff to ensure food safety.

Supervision Ensure menus are followed as planned; document any necessary changes for DCFS and CACFP records. Complete Annual Reviews for Kitchen Staff. Maintain CDL storage and supply areas to pass semester kitchen inspections. Establish work schedule to ensure kitchens are time efficient. Approve leave requests based on available schedule. Supervise kitchen use and clean up by CDL teachers and researchers using the facilities. Make sure kitchen staff is following procedures put in place through the Illinois Department of Public Health. (i.e., Food temperatures are logged, proper handwashing procedures

are followed, food is dated). Complete any other related duties as assigned.
