JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Part-Time Content Creation and Social Media Intern

Penn State’s Office of Strategic Communication (the University’s central public relations and marketing division) seeks a part-time content creation/social media intern to join our digital public relations team and help create innovative and engaging content that aligns with division and University goals.

This position requires candidates to be current Penn State students at University Park campus and will require 10 hours per week at $12 per hour.

The intern will have the opportunity to:

  • Create innovative and engaging content for YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram.

  • Participate in brainstorming new content ideas.

  • Research emerging content trends in the social and digital media space that can be leveraged by our social channels.

  • Seek out students, alumni, faculty, staff, colleges, departments, labs, and groups who could be potential content collaborators or content subjects.

  • Assist with analyzing content metrics to inform future projects.

  • Attend campus events, as needed.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.

  • Be able to work individually as well as collaboratively.

  • Have a passion for creating content that is on trend as well as unique.

  • Be able to connect Penn State’s goals and values to our overall content strategy.

  • Have experience with video (phone-created content counts), photography, audio, and/or animation.

  • Understand the current social media landscape.

  • Be able to create content that tells a story.
