JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Office of Access and Equity in the College of Agricultural Sciences (https://agsci.psu.edu/) is seeking a Director of Access and Community Engagement Strategies.

Our team is highly collaborative and committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment with opportunities for professional growth and development for all our members.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Development and leadership of initiatives related to ensuring access and a welcoming study and work environment in the college, including:

  • initiatives to support the success of first-generation college students

  • strategies to support the academic achievement of under-served graduate students

  • planning of celebration months and multicultural events,

  • learning and education opportunities to enhance intercultural competencies and skills for our college community

  • learning opportunities for Extension staff to enhance their skills in ensuring access and accessibility to extension programs, and in providing welcoming environments

Development and evaluation of strategies to enhance Extension programs engagement with under-served communities, including:

  • working with Extension leadership and personnel to develop programs and marketing strategies to reach under-served audiences

  • working with Extension leadership and personnel to develop strategies to sustain parity in boards and programs

Education and Experience:

This position will be filled at the level of Intermediate Professional or Advanced Support, depending on the final applicant's experience and education. The Intermediate Professional level requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree and one or more years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master degree is preferred. Additional education and/or experience are required for higher-level positions.

The successful candidate must be:

  • service-oriented and committed to providing an equitable, respectful, and nurturing environment for our Ag Sciences community, especially our members from underrepresented and under-served communities

  • highly motivated and with outstanding organizational skills

  • excellent in oral and written communication skills

  • experienced in the development and delivery of programs and initiatives supporting First Generation college students

  • experienced in the development and delivery of programs to support the academic success of under-served graduate students

  • experienced in the development and delivery of programs that enhance intercultural skills, knowledge of equal opportunity practices, and competencies to provide welcoming environments

  • experienced working with and leading diverse and interdisciplinary groups

Desired qualifications include:

  • working knowledge of Spanish and/or language/s other than English

This position reports to the Assistant Dean for Access and Equity.

This position requires the following clearances:

PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to clearances.

Work Arrangements:

This position requires the successful candidate to work in person and on campus.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$51,000.00 - $81,500.00
