JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering (EME) at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for an adjunct instructor in Energy Business and Finance for Fall 2024. Position is for in-person lectures and laboratory courses offered in the Energy Business and Finance (EBF) undergraduate program.

Duties include:

Successful candidate is expected to teach the undergraduate Energy Crisis Leadership (EBF 450), course.

EBF 450 teaches leadership in highly visible, pressure-charged environments. You will manage simulated, open-ended, and complex problems in business and media crises that draw on examples of serious accidents from the energy and extractive industries. Each week, you and your team will assume roles of senior executives tasked with responding to a crisis. This course offers you the chance to try different styles of performing under pressure while managing tensions and competing claims. Students will learn how their leadership and interpersonal relationship styles can influence the effectiveness and outcome of a team.

Requirements and Qualifications:

A PhD degree in Energy and Mineral Engineering or related majors is preferred but will consider a Master of Science degree with teaching experience in Energy and Mineral Engineering lecture and lab or related degrees. Industry experience and evidence of a commitment to excellence in teaching is a plus.
