Manager, Tax Technology

  • Location: United States, Michigan

Make your mark. Plante Moran’s technology services team has been awarded Insider Pro and Computerworld’s “100 Best Places to Work in IT” for five consecutive years. We are also previous recipients of the InformationWeek IT Excellence award and the CIO 100 award. If you’re seeking professional growth, like being innovative and challenged, and have a desire to work on impactful business technology solutions, we want to hear from you!

Plante Moran enjoys a “Workplace for Your Day” model which, simply put, means no one knows the best place for you to physically work better than you. Our staff choose their work location based on their individual day’s needs, and gives them the flexibility they need when they need it. If staff need to go into the office to collaborate, the space is there, and if they have a day where they need to focus alone, then staying home works just fine, too.

Want to help lead a culture of innovation and technology at the firm? We are seeking an IT leader with a strong background in tax technology and systems delivery to lead and grow our tax technology team and to define and execute our tax technology roadmap. The tax technology team collaborates closely with tax practice leaders and across technology services teams to drive business value through new and evolving technology. The team is comprised of business analysts and senior specialists who collectively own, maintain, and manage the tax technology portfolio for the firm. This is an IT leadership role that reports directly to the Director of Audit and Tax Technology.

Your role.

Your work will include, but not be limited to:

  • Leading our Tax Technology team which is responsible for our overall tax application portfolio including management of existing solutions, defining future technology needs, and delivering and maintaining new technology solutions.

  • Collaborating with other functional leaders in Technology Services and the Tax department to ensure consistent delivery of technology projects and services.

  • Being a thought leader in the development of our tax technology strategy and roadmap

  • Growing and developing the tax technology team to ensure sustainability of service levels and support for an expanding tax technology portfolio.

  • Working closely with our tax practice professionals to find solutions for real business challenges and opportunities and then help make those solutions a reality.

  • Project planning and oversight to ensure successful project execution and value realization.

  • Leading staff including capacity planning, performance management, skills development, career planning, and mentoring of application architects, technical leads, and business analysts.

The qualifications.

  • 5+ years of tax technology leadership experience or CPA strongly preferred

  • Strong background in general systems development life cycle with specific emphasis in tax technology

  • Bachelors degree required

  • Track record of successful delivery of complex technology solutions at scale

  • Knowledgeable in system integration and system architecture concepts

  • Experience leading teams with the ability to both serve and inspire others; skilled at developing team members and creating an environment of engagement and camaraderie.

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills combined with high personal integrity.

  • An ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships at all levels both within and outside the firm.

  • Ability to listen, consider diverse options, and bring clarity and alignment where needed to enable team effectiveness in support of a common goal

  • This position will be filled as a Manager or Senior Manager

  • This position may require some local, national, and occasional international travel.
