Position Summary: Responsible for the operation and driving of school buses and the safe transportation of students and other passengers. All applicants must be at least 21 years old; have a clean driving record and be able to pass a background check. DTC offers part-time, split-shift opportunities that work well with other careers! Knowledge and Skill Requirements: Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent. Have a valid Wisconsin driver\'s license and continuously maintain and satisfy all requirements for Class B, C, and D licenses and S and P endorsements. Ability with training to safely operate safety equipment and adaptive equipment. Ability to interact positively with all students including students with disabilities or special needs. Regular attendance and punctuality are required. Candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment will be required to complete a background check, physical and tuberculosis test, and fitness for duty/drug screen. Working Conditions: Working conditions are normal for a school bus driver. Work involves driving buses and assisting passengers in a variety of driving and weather conditions. Compensation: \$21.00 - \$22.55 per hour Check the condition of a vehicle\'s tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment to ensure that everything is in working order. Comply with traffic regulations to operate vehicles safely and courteously. Drive gasoline, diesel, or electrically powered multi-passenger vehicles to transport students between neighborhoods, schools, and school activities. Escort small children across roads and highways. Follow safety rules as students board and exit buses or cross streets near bus stops. Keep bus interiors clean for students. Maintain knowledge of first-aid procedures. Maintain order among students during trips to ensure safety. Report delinquent student behaviors to school administration. Report any bus malfunctions or needed repairs. Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilation systems for student comfort. Record bus routes. Read maps and follow written and verbal geographic directions. Prepare and submit reports that may include the number of students or trips, hours worked, mileage, or fuel consumption. Pick up and drop off students at regularly scheduled neighborhood locations, following strict time schedules. Comply with traffic regulations to operate vehicles safely and courteously. Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations, using telephones or mobile two-way radios.
