Job Title: Lead Operator Engineer

Location: Tutbury, Derbyshire

Shift Patterns: 6am – 2pm, 2pm - 10pm, 10pm – 6am Three shifts, requiring flexibility.

Salary: £51,489.00 (includes Basic salary + Shift allowance + Contractual overtime of 30 minutes Per week) + potential bonus + other companywide fantastic benefits

Position Summary

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Lead Operating Engineer to work in our Fill and Pack department reporting to the Line Performance Manager. The Key focus of this department is to ensure that our products are sustainably transferred to our packaging lines, including Glass, sachets, and other Recyclable products.

This Department is a constant hive of activity as it is the recipient from two different departments with 2 very specialist products, within this part of the factory there is a Large Variety of state-of-the-art equipment and technology that needs to be maintained and continually improved using your invaluable skills and the existing Department skills.

The Nestlé Tutbury Factory in Derbyshire is one of the largest Nestlé factories in Europe after circa £500 million investment over the last few years. The factory is a Centre of excellence for Nescafé products around the world producing freeze-dried, spray dried and pod coffee technologies and is at the forefront of coffee innovation globally. The factory is moving forward with continuous improvement principles and actively developing Lean/TPM processes so it’s an exciting time to be involved.

A day in the life of a Lead Operator Engineer

The Lead Operating Engineer role is the integral bridge between Production and the Full maintenance team, this person in partnership with the Line Lead will Actively lead and execute the repair and maintenance of assets during normal production to improve the line, and ensuring the required finished products are manufactured to plan, quality and safety requirements.

Other responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• You will organise support and coach the line operators and technical operators in the live environment have the ability and Coaching/ leadership skills to manage most day-to-day issues on the line.

• The Lead Operating Engineer will be responsible for the line results within their shift and will be the first response to breakdowns or process failures on their line requiring engineering support.

• You will help drive the execution of NCE activities within the shift and provide technical expertise to reduce both technical and production losses through coaching, training, participating in problem solving, implementing solutions, sharing knowledge and building technical competence of their team.

• Ensure compliance to safety and quality standards

• Presence at Shift Operational Review and operational handovers with Lead operators and Line Operating Engineers

• Identify and close out improvement activities linked to priority losses, linking in with Maintenance Engineer & Line Performance Manager

What will make you successful?

• Ideally you will be dual trained (mechanical and electrical) with proven experience in manufacturing. Food industry being preferable.

  • Will have an NVQ Level 3 and National Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, as well as a time served apprenticeship (please ensure detailed on CV)

• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671)

• Experience in Installation and inspection and Testing e.g minor works training or City and Guilds

• Knowledge of SAP PM module including work order management

• Committed attitude Health and safety & Hygiene procedures, in relation to product quality, people and environment safety

• Evidence of working in multifunctional team (i.e., capital projects, DMAIC) would be ideal

• Proven Track record in influencing, motivating and leading people.
