Virgin Galactic Specialist Engineer, Product Safety in Tustin, California
Virgin Galactic is seeking a talented and motivated Specialist Engineer/Analyst to join our team. Responsibilities
Work with project engineering to develop Product Safety artifacts for new and existing designs.
An applicant must have experience with one or more safety analyses from either or both major safety areas below:
System Safety Analysis (SSA)
Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA)
Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA)
Risk identification, prioritization, and management
Flight Safety Analysis (FSA)
Trajectory Analysis
Debris Analysis
Probability of Failure Analysis
Population Exposure Analysis
Flight Hazard Area Analysis
Required Skills and Experience
Provide support and risk advice to production, maintenance, technical, project or program personnel
B.S. or M.S. degree in an Engineering discipline, Mathematics or Physics from an accredited university
Knowledge of Systems Engineering development lifecycles
Knowledge of software development practices and design assurance methods such as DO-178 or ARP4754 preferred
Knowledge of electronic hardware design assurance methods such as DO-254 preferred
Experience with Built-In-Test and its application to product safety preferred
Knowledge of FAA commercial space regulations preferred, CFR §450.
Detailed knowledge of the inputs and outputs of the various product safety analysis techniques
Experience with the system safety methods of ARP4761 or MIL-STD-882, with emphasis on hazard mitigation processes
Experience with Human Factors and its application to product safety.
Must have experience with a fault tree modeling software
Ability to read electrical and mechanical engineering drawings, to include schematics, wiring diagrams and assembly drawings
Preferred Skills and Experience
Strong statistical analysis skills preferred Professional Requirements:
10 or more years of relevant experience in aerospace or similar field
Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and written communication skills
Team player with excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Must be self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision, adaptable to changing environments, and able to handle multiple tasks and/or projects simultaneously
The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $132,100.00–$201,550.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
