Center Health Nurses educate parents, teachers, and community leaders on safe center practices, contributing to the incredible value of early childhood education and making that value come to life for the children in their center.

As a Center Health Nurse you will:

Help ensure staff readiness daily, weekly and monthly health and safety inspections

Work in partnership with KinderCare's Health and Safety department to provide consultation to answer questions on health and safety issues (in alignment with public health guidance and healthcare standards) common in child care, such as:

o Prevention of infectious disease (social distancing, group size, cloth face coverings, sanitizing/disinfecting, health checks, staff health, etc.), reading cleaning labels, handwashing, injury prevention, nutrition, behavioral problems

o Caring for children with chronic health conditions and other special needs

o Child growth and development

o Child abuse and violence prevention

o Oral health

o Access to special services and resources

Fulfill the role of Center Health and Safety Coordinator

Ensure center maintains compliance at all times with applicable licensing regulations regarding the storage and administration of child medications and treatments

Administer authorized child medications

Respond to regular health issues common in a child care setting

Ensure center maintains compliance with group care health standards

Communicate as appropriate with families regarding exclusions due to illness, and monitor/maintain guidelines for exclusion duration and return-to-care authorization

Help assimilate new team members with health and safety training

Create a culture of safety - ensuring all employees are aware of their responsibilities for safe and healthy practices.

Provide ways for employees to bring suggestions or concerns forward (i.e. Employee Safety Suggestion Form)

Be the liaison between Inclusion Services and center staff for any child with special needs

Ensure immunization records are maintained

Preform the tasks on the Safety Calendar provided in the seasonal guides to focus on health and safety in the center.

Update and maintain the centers OSHA BinderQualifications

Requirements:

A Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in a health-related field is preferred. College Health Nursing Certification is required. Must be actively licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Alabama.

Ability to remain agile and function in an environment with onstant change

Strong understanding of child development and learning methodology

Operations experience in early childhood education is a plus

Training and Development experience preferred

Less than 25% travel required
