Responsibilities

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE : Reports to the Dietary Supervisor and/or the cook of the Dietary Department. Fills orders for food and supplies and performs preparation work for other areas of the Dietary Department in order to provide optimal food service to our customers. Assists cook as needed. Follow policy and procedure and the Mission and Philosophy of Community Memorial Hospital.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organizes and plans daily activities to complete job efficiently. Recognizes priority work and completes it in a timely manner. Completes all duties before end of shift.

  • Containers refilled when low or empty. Groceries properly unpacked within 12 hour workday. Dining room restocked as necessary. Proper care of plastic containers. Performs all duties independently with little or no supervision.

  • Prepares food items as close to serving times as possible. Foods prepared are of optimal quality. Proper handling and holding of food is followed. Portion sizes are followed. Makes coffee when needed. Ensures accuracy by following diet orders, nourishment lists, and client requests.

  • Transports food cart to the floor. Assists cook in putting food on trays. Stocks nourishment center on patient floor accurately and according to sanitation guidelines. Cleans off trays, cart and counter tops. Cleans floor as needed. Assists cook with whatever is needed.

  • Proper care of equipment daily. Completes cleaning as needed according to sanitation guidelines. Good sanitation practices. Wears protective equipment as required. Proper safety practices. Reports any maintenance repairs or unsafe conditions to maintenance or to supervisor.

  • Demonstrates ability to handle increased workload during periods of heavy workload. Willingness to take on additional tasks or assignments. Willingness to change work schedule. Willingness to put in additional time when requested.

Qualifications

Ability to read and write, follow oral and written instructions and do simple mathematics.

Experience preferred but not required.

Pay Range

$15.00 - $19.82 /hour
