Thomas Jefferson University Hearing Screen Coordinator, Per Diem, Labor Delivery, Washington Township in Turnersville, New Jersey

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Nurse Manager and under the supervision of the professional nurse, the Newborn Hearing Screen Coordinator provides designated direct and indirect patient care activities, maintains the database of all hearing screens results, reports results to the Department of Health, maintains supplies and equipment available to ensure efficient unit operations. Patient population ranges from newborn through late adulthood.

Responsibilities:

  • Meets all standards of the Patient Satisfaction Initiative Criteria in order to make Abington ndash; Jefferson Health (AJH) the hospital of choice for Patients and Employees.
  • Performs designated direct and indirect patient care activities to meet patient care needs including but not limited to performing hearing screenings on newborns in the parentrsquo;s room (unless conditions do not permit) using established guidelines and protocols. Monitors, promotes and maintains a safe patient care environment to facilitateiquest;safe and effective patient care, and reports any changes to RN.
  • Organizes, manages and tracks computer-based data in a timely and accurate manner, including but not limited to, uploading data, completing monthly statistics and monitoring and fixing edit reports. Responsible for state reporting of hearing screen results where applicable
  • Responsible for facilitating referral process for all referred newborns, including submission of all necessary documents.
  • Monitors the maintenance and inventory of hearing screen equipment and supplies and notifies appropriate vendor and management of any issues.
  • Provides training to new staff on the proper use and maintenance of the hearing screen equipment. Attends Monthly Staff meetings to provide updates, education and report any concerns.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education:

  • High School graduate or equivalent preferred

Experience:

  • C.N.A. or previous similar healthcare experience required
