Job Description:

The Systems / Project Engineer is the technical lead in Business Development pursuits. The candidate will work closely with the BD director, Chief Engineers, IRAD teams, and Engineering Functional Management in developing pursuit strategies and writing technical proposals. Key technologies include software development, image processing techniques, Electro-Optical / InfraRed (EO/IR) sensor integration, mission system integration, and aircraft modification. The ideal candidate does not need to excel in all of these areas, but needs to be capable of working closely with subject matter experts and develop a good base understanding of overall system development.

  • Work with Business Development and program leaders in support of pursuits applicable to the key business areas. This includes writing and developing technical solutions for the pursuits.

  • Must understand and effectively lead / utilize a diverse team of technical subject matter experts and Engineering disciplines as well as contracts, subcontracts, program management.

  • Must have a strong set of core competencies including Problem Solving, Team Leadership, Strategic Thinking / Planning, Communication, IPT / Cross Functional Behavior, Accountability, Critical Thinking, and the highest level of Ethical Conduct.

    Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for planning, organizing, managing, and scheduling of engineering activities throughout business development pursuits and projects.

  • Must be capable of interpreting and analyzing customer documents and needs, defining the system-level architecture, and allocating subsystem requirements.

  • Performs system-level analyses, determines necessary trade studies, defines, and allocates the functional requirements to the subsystem engineering staff

  • Leadership experience (especially Project Engineering and/or Systems Engineering)

  • Serves as the central technical interface to the various disciplines (PM, Engineering, Operators, Customers)

  • Ability to perform as a Project Engineer for various engineering disciplines. With assistance from the various engineering disciplines, this role is responsible for preparing technical presentations for both internal gate reviews and customer reviews

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.

  • Minimum 4 years experience in all or some of the following areas:

  • Project Engineering

  • System Engineering

  • Aeronautical Engineering

  • Software / Hardware Engineering

  • Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)

  • Agile Development Process

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Familiarity with the following processes is desired:

  • Bidding and Proposal

  • Project planning, guidance, and execution

  • Customer interaction and communication

  • Executive level interaction and communication

  • Entire Program/Engineering Life Cycle Phases and Activities

  • Subcontract technical oversight and requirements management

  • Experience with Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaisance (ISR) sensor development and integration.

  • Experience with image processing algorithm development, integration, and deployment

  • Experience integrating multiple mission systems within a single project

  • Experience with aircraft modification and modernization

  • Familiarity with airworthiness and FAA certification process

  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project) or similar tools
