Employer Job Title: Welder - Machine Shop - Tucson, AZ -Req #1470

SUMMARY:

  1. Repair and/or rebuild structurally failed or worn parts requiring welding process reconstruction.
  2. Work in adverse weather and other adverse shop and field situations presented by client needs.
  3. Accept all out-of-town assignments requiring overnight stays.
  4. Communicate orally and in writing information, instructions, and explanations to associates, clients, and management regarding conditions, problems, and recommendations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Fabricate and/or repair metal parts.
  2. Comprehend and interpret sketches and diagrams.
  3. Operate welding equipment.
  4. Prepare service reports.
  5. Plan and control cost of repair jobs.
  6. Maintain company equipment keep in good clean orderly condition.
  7. Work safely at all times. Adhere to all applicable safety policies. Comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Own and maintain required personal tools.
  2. Learn and use Empire, Caterpillar and allied product procedures and systems.
  3. Maintain current MSHA card if work area requires.
  4. Provide on-the-job training to technicians and helpers as assigned.
  5. Communicate with proper individuals to clarify instructions or discuss scope or progress of job.
  6. Work overtime as needed.
  7. Travel to remote locations as needed.
  8. Perform other related duties as assigned.
  9. Work within and promote corporate values.

EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  1. At least six months of related experience in a similar role and environment.
  2. Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English.
  3. Keep safety as a priority in the work environment.
  4. Ability to successfully complete a skills assessment. (eTRAIN test)
  5. The employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  6. Valid drivers license.
  7. Excellent client service skills.
  8. Own and maintain required personal tools.

Strongly Preferred:

  1. At least five years heavy equipment technician experience, preferably in a dealership environment.
  2. Caterpillar work experience.
  3. Proficient rebuilding/repairing machinery including hydraulics, electrical, powertrain, engines, and Tier IV Emissions systems, failure analysis procedures, warranty claims procedures
