Position Title: Assistant Set Design Carpenter (Temporary, Part-Time)
Department: West Campus - Performing Arts
Rate of Pay: \$20.00/hour
Closed Date: May 09, 2024; 5:00 PM Arizona Time
Position Summary:
The Assistant Set Design Carpenter is responsible for helping to plan and build scenic elements for performing arts. They will work closely with the Technical Director and Set Designer, as well as other theater production team members to ensure that scenic elements are built correctly and on-time.
Position Dates: August 1, 2024 - September 6, 2024
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Scenic construction using lumber and steel
- Hand and power tool usage, including but not limited to saws (table saw, circular saw), routers, drills, etc...
- Maintaining a safe and clean workshop
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Experience in scenic construction
- Ability to keep shop and work areas clean, and equipment organized
- Knowledge of building materials and their practical application
- Knowledge of safety standards for scenic construction and tool use
The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Experience in Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding
- Time management
- Self-directed
Physical Requirements:
Positions in this class typically require: talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Candidate must be able to lift 50lbs.
