Athletic and Recreational Supervisor

In order to be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement. HVCC does not sponsor Visas. Applicants must currently hold an unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States and appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must have been legal residents of New York State for at least FOUR months immediately preceding the date of the test. Pursuant to subdivision 4a of Sec. 23 of the Civil Service Law, preference may be given to successful candidates who have been legal residents of the municipality to which the appointment is to be made for at least FOUR months preceding the date of the written test.

This is a provisional appointment. Selected candidate will need to sit, pass and be eligible on the next available Rensselaer County Civil Service Exam for Athletic and Recreational Supervisor in order to be considered for permanent appointment.

Please note: This position requires a non-traditional work schedule including occasional evening and weekend assignments.

This position is currently open to employees currently employed by HVCC or the EOC.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or Sports Management (OR) Associate’s degree in an applicable field such as physical education or recreation and three years relevant experience.

Preferred: Strong Background in physical education and athletics.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES: The Athletic and Recreation Supervisor reports to the Director of Athletics or his/her designee and performs the following duties:

Supervises the work study students and/or student college workers.

Acquires, inventories, issues, collects, maintains Physical Education, Recreation, intramural, and athletic program equipment, supply and/or uniform items.

Maintains the upkeep of grounds used in conjunction with the Physical Education, Recreation, intramural and intercollegiate athletic programs.

Prepares indoor and outdoor facilities for Physical Education/Recreation courses, intramural activities and/or varsity athletic contests.

Orders equipment, supplies and uniform items.

Maintains all necessary records associated with such equipment, supplies and uniform items.

Assists Associate Director and Director of Athletics or his/her designee, faculty members, coaches, students and/or sports officials relative to the organization, preparation and conduct of academic classes, intramural, recreation activities and/or intercollegiate athletic contests.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

This is a full-time 12-month, 40-hour work week position with an hourly rate of $22.83. Start date is immediate.
