Element Materials Technology Senior Test Technician in Troy, Michigan
Overview
Element has an opportunity for a Senior Test Technician (Third Shift) to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team in Troy, MI, the Senior Test Technician position provides testing services to manufacturers and leading suppliers in the passenger car, light truck, bus, off-highway and military vehicle sectors. Its range of capabilities includes component and system testing, system simulation, engine performance and full vehicle structural testing.
Responsibilities
Ensure adherence to safety standards and protocols during testing activities
Review test requirements from work instructions and acquire necessary equipment and fixtures
Set up hydraulic servo test stands and possess the ability to learn lower to intermediate complex testing
Record and document data during test procedures
Build and tear down test samples and setups as needed
Communicate and collaborate with engineers from setup to test completion
Skills / Qualifications
Working knowledge of laboratory safety
HS diploma or GED certificate preferred. College or vocational school coursework welcomed
0-2 years’ experience in a testing related field
Possess or procure a basic mechanic tool set and tool box
Strong experience in repairing, maintaining, or servicing cars, trucks, or motorcycles is highly preferred, especially in roles involving mechanical systems or vehicle performance testing
Must be able to work overtime as needed and scheduled weekends
Basic understanding of testing concepts
Possess computer skills
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry a plus
Physical Demands:
Frequency of required physical force: Minimum (moderate).
Lifting requirements: lifting <50 lbs. often and > 50 lbs. on occasion
Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time
Ability to lift 50+lbs periodically
