Product Engineer Crash & Safety (Troy, MI, or other unanticipated locations throughout the U.S.). Responsibilities include: Developing of body structure, chassis, fuel or electrical, and/or occupant restraint systems using CAE simulation or physical test. Using analysis tools to guide component and system design through optimization to meet FMVSS, IIHS, ECE, GB, and other regulatory requirements and public domain targets. Developing of new analytical and physical verification procedures to reduce physical testing and improve CAE model and/or test accuracy. Applying principles related to vehicle component and occupant kinematics in front, side, and rear vehicle crash test modes. Documenting workplan and deliverables "kick-off" to "Final Engineering", including design, RCM calibration, production, and test timing. Performing structural assessment for US regulatory and third-party requirements such as IIHS, NCAP, FMVSS and additional internal requirements for high voltage (HV) components like batteries, combo chargers and thermal management. MS Mechanical Engineering and 12 mon exp in any related Product Engineer or CAE Analyst position. 12 mon in: Crash safety internal requirements for high voltage (HV) components and thermal management systems for electronic vehicles (EV); full vehicle barrier tests and sub system component tests; physical testing and development; RCM calibration; CAE analysis and structural tests; Six Sigma Green Belt certified in DMAIC sub-methodology. Telecommuting Permitted. 40 hrs/wk. 8:00 am -- 5:00 pm.
