Actalent Employee Service Specialist in Troy, Michigan

Actalent is hiring an Employee Service Specialist for a permanent role supporting our internal employees and technical consultants. The Employee Service Specialist (ESS) is responsible for ensuring our employees receive exceptional service in all areas of requests including but not limited to payroll, benefits, and other general employment questions. The ESS is the main point of contact for employees and serves as the primary liaison between Actalent's onboarding, payroll, human resources, internal partners, and corporate benefits teams. The ESS is the main contact for Actalent employees/consultants for all inquires not related to technical project responsibilities. This position offers hybrid flexibility to work 2 days/week remote for candidates local to our engineering centers in Troy MI, Louisville KY, New Albany OH, Roanoke VA, Fort Worth TX or Tulsa OK.

Essential Functions

  • Ensure all employees are educated in benefits as well as assist with any questions.

  • Communicate termed employees to payroll team to ensure they are off-boarding properly.

  • Assists payroll team with timecard collection, manager approval, and communication to internal partners and employees.

  • Manage the Unemployment Process to include claims and hearings.

  • Partner with our Worker’s Compensation team, Unemployment Representatives, HR for FLMA, STD, LOA process.

  • Audit of PTO packages if applicable.

  • Assist with immigration questions and follow up as needed.

  • Update PeopleSoft system with employee information as needed

  • Coordinate tuition reimbursement process.

  • Actively seek opportunities to increase employee engagement/satisfaction.

  • Participate in Social Committees/Newsletters where applicable.

  • Communicate all personnel changes, promotion, termination, to appropriate partners and update systems as needed.

  • Continuously evaluate areas of responsibility in order to facilitate continuous improvement and implement best practices.

  • Maintain informational bulletin boards.

  • Coordinate employee events such as lunches, conference room preparation, meetings, team-building activities, ect.

  • Maintain inventory and order office supplies.

  • Serve as direct liaison to property manager and building maintenance.

Minimum Education/ Abilities/Skills

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.

  • Minimum 3 years professional experience in an employee service/support or HR-related position.

  • Professional experience explaining and administering employee benefit plans, PTO/vacation packages required.

  • Proficiency in payroll, onboarding, employee service and/or HR related tasks desired.

  • Ability to communication effectively and provide proper follow-up with employees.

  • Ability to organize, problem-solve and determine priorities necessary.

  • Initiative, ability to work independently and self-assign tasks and projects strongly desired.

  • Well-versed in explaining and administering employee benefits.

  • Previous experience involving event-planning and coordinating office activities is a plus.

Compensation/Benefits

  • $44,000-$46,000 starting base salary, $4,000 annual performance bonus potential, 4 weeks paid time-off, 6 paid holidays, 401(k) w/company match, M/D/V benefits (REFCR2023)
