The Rescue Mission of Trenton is seeking an Employee Training and Development Specialist. Under the supervision of the Director of Administration and in conjunction with Unit Chiefs, the Employee Training and Development Specialist has the full responsibility over the development portfolio of a training program and courses to elevate and maximize skill sets of staff. We provide a safe, clean, warm refuge for the homeless, the hungry, the transient and the addicted. What it’s like to work at the Rescue Mission of Trenton: Rescue Mission of Trenton was founded in 1915 and is a non-profit organization that helps rescue people from themselves and their situations. Our dedicated staff in the Shelter and our Behavioral Health Unit offer care, support and encouragement to all that reside here. We value dignity, communication and helping each of our clients reach their full potential. Clients/residents are assisted by staff with treatment options, medical help, job placement, financial planning, education, counseling and mental health treatment. Our staff works diligently with the clients to get ID, an income and the things necessary to help them with transitioning to housing.

Who Will Be Successful: Successful candidates bring commitment to supporting and empowering individuals to acquire new knowledge, skills, and competencies. They are highly organized, effective communicators who will work effectively to foster continuous training opportunities, conduct needs assessments, ensure the execution of the training, and track and follow-up with surveys of how training information is being implemented in work environment. Qualifications For Position:

  • Fluent in English and Spanish preferred (both written and verbal)

  • AA. in business, communications or education preferred, and relevant experience in training and development. Equivalent life experience required if educational qualifications not met or Minimum 1-2 years' experience in training and development

  • Excellent relationship-building and people skills

  • Able to work independently

  • Strong knowledge of training processes and procedures

  • Strong computer skills (comfortable using the following, or similar tools: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs, Zoom, SurveyPlanet)

  • Strong facilitation skills

  • Excellent team communication skills – has a sense of what needs to be communicated, to whom, how often, and in what way, for the staff to be successful

  • Time Management skills

  • A valid driver's license

    Position Details:

  • Identifies training needs and training gaps within the organization working with Unit Chiefs

  • Identifies training facilitators or resources

  • Provides inputs to the Training Strategy and the development of specific training development plans

  • Optimizes the training portfolio as specialized targeted required courses are offered to managers and staff

  • Prepares training manuals and training offers for staff and managers

  • Plans training courses and sessions and manages and monitors the assigned training budget

  • Manages the portfolio of contracts with training facilitators and introduces changes to the Standard Terms and Conditions

  • Communicate with the training facilitators and delivers tailored training programs and courses

  • Oversees the quality of delivered training sessions by facilitators

  • Builds the internal network of internal trainers and organizes the regular Train the Trainer sessions

  • Monitors the best practices in the training area and introduces it in the organization

  • Evaluates the quality of training courses via surveys and implements improvements

  • Other duties as assigned
