Position Summary:

We seek a dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Services Coordinator to join our team. This role is integral to our commitment to offering spiritual support and comfort to our patients and their families, respecting various beliefs and values. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the spiritual dimensions of hospice care and the ability to provide pastoral and spiritual services respectfully and inclusively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide spiritual support and pastoral care to patients and their families, respecting their faith, beliefs, and spiritual needs.
  • Coordinate with the care team to integrate spiritual care into the patient's overall care plan.
  • Conduct or arrange for religious services or rituals according to the patient's and family's wishes.
  • Offer families and staff counseling and support for grief, loss, and bereavement.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local clergy and faith communities to facilitate specific spiritual requests.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to assess patient needs, plan care, and evaluate services.

Qualifications:

  • Ordination or endorsement by a recognized faith community and a minimum of one year of experience in a pastoral role, preferably in a hospice, hospital, or healthcare setting.
  • Bachelor's degree in divinity, theology, spiritual care, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Certification or eligibility for certification by a recognized pastoral education body (e.g., Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, National Association of Catholic Chaplains, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective spiritual care to people of diverse religious or cultural backgrounds.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and counseling skills.
  • Compassionate, patient, and respectful approach to care.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to patients' homes or care facilities as needed.
