Intra-Cellular Therapies Inc. is a publicly traded biopharmaceutical company headquartered in New York City. The Director of Tax is responsible for all tax-related activities within ITCI and ensures that all matters related to taxes are handled promptly and accurately. The position’s responsibilities will include developing new tax strategies and policies for the business, including setting up new tax forms and templates, and implementing new accounting methods. We will be hiring one candidate for a hybrid position based in Towson, MD or the NY Metropolitan area.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee the tax function, managing the Company’s initiatives across the tax landscape, including oversight of tax operations, compliance, planning, controversy, and accounting

  • Build and execute a road map for the future of the tax organization

  • Manage the preparation and review of tax accounting in accordance with ASC 740

  • Manage tax provision process and reviewing financial statement disclosures

  • Prepare cash tax forecast and analysis

  • Manage all US and state tax filings

  • Maintain effective internal control environment to ensure compliance with financial reporting standards and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations

  • Provide tax support for transactions such as M&A activities, including managing tax due diligence and tax planning

  • Communicate effectively with management to provide tax planning, advice and guidance

  • Manage technical research and consultation with management and the external auditors to ensure that proper accounting treatment is applied and documented for all transactions

  • Connect with colleagues and business partners to resolve issues, develop strategies and improve processes

  • Oversee and organize tax audits

  • Identify ways to reduce the company’s taxes by reviewing financial statements and other records

  • Developing and maintaining in-depth knowledge of federal, state, and foreign tax developments that may be relevant to the company

  • Assist with creation of presentation materials for executive management and Board of Directors review

  • Identify and develop strategies to reduce any tax risks

  • Manage outside tax advisors on key strategic projects and tax planning initiatives, as required

  • Complete all company and job-related training as assigned within the required timelines.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in accounting, finance or business

  • CPA is required, advanced degree in Taxation preferred

  • 12+ years related experience with combination of public and corporate accounting.

  • Research & development (R&D) industry experience required; biotech or pharmaceutical industry experience highly preferred

  • In-depth knowledge of US GAAP tax accounting rules, pronouncements and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations

  • 8+ years’ leadership and managerial experience in complex organization

  • OneSource or Bloomberg tax software training and experience preferred

  • Occasional travel is possible

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)

  • Ability to collaborate internally with other teams involved in the tax process

  • Detail-oriented with outstanding organization and problem-solving skills

  • Results driven team player who leads by example and takes full ownership of work

  • Demonstration of a high level of character and ethics acting in line with a clear and visible set of values & beliefs

Director, Tax - Base Salary Range $170,000 - $200,000
