Reference #: 4623083 THE POSITION As a County Caseworker you will interview clients and obtain social histories, provide comprehensive information about financial aid, home management, training and work programs, housing, mental health services, and other social services required to meet the needs of the consumer.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a caseworker in the blended Case Management Program, you will participate in training made available through the County Program by observing and working directly with higher level caseworkers and supervisory staff in order to learn and become knowledgeable regarding mental health program methods, procedures and rules and regulations regarding the provision of services to mental health consumers. You will shadow higher level staff and understand the concepts of a recovery-oriented system of care. You will assist consumers with provider agencies of mental health adjunctive services such as those to resolve social, health, emotional, and economic problems in the community.
You will participate in team meetings with providers and direct supervision weekly in order to review, open and close cases acting in an advocacy role for and with the consumer of services. After 6 months you will participate in on-call services. You will follow the principles developed by the Child and Adolescent Services System Program in the provision of services to children and adolescents and their families. You will provide service delivery to clientele in accordance with the Blended Case Management regulations dealing with mental health consumer rights.
Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment. Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 18 days per year. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Towanda. Hours may vary due to travel, after-hours appointments, etc. You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
Other Requirements: PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements: You must pass a background investigation. A conditional offer of employment will require drug screening. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a c nditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
