Home Care Assistance of Barrie, Ontario Developmental Service Worker (DSW) in Tottenham, Ontario

We are seeking a DSWs or PSWs for a group home in Tottenham. 6 hour and 12 hour shifts are available for mornings, evenings, or nights. Bi-weekly weekends are strongly encouraged. We are seeking casual individuals that can commit to working scheduled AND last minute shifts. 

Job Benefits:

  • Competitive pay at $21 (+$3 DSW wage enhancement) = $24/hr

  • Benefits plan available after working 30+ hours per week* 

  • 4% vacation pay on every pay

  • Flexible hours

Areas of responsibility will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Providing resident-focused care that meets the needs of residents

  • Supporting residents in all areas of daily living including: behaviour management, community involvement, recreation, and education

  • Maintaining open communication with residents and their families

  • Providing cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual support 

  • Responding to all emergency situations

  • All other duties, as assigned

Key qualifications for this position will include, but are not limited to:

  • PSW or DSW certification

  • Valid CPR certificate

  • Completion of Police Vulnerable Sector Check

  • Satisfactory professional references

  • A minimum of 1 year experience working in a group home is required *

  • All staff are required to have a drivers license, car insurance, and their own vehicle

  • CPI training certification is required**

  • Ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions

  • Must be able to anticipate problems and use sound judgment and tact in handling confidential matters
