DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Staff Psychiatrist, you are responsible for the thorough workup of all patients under your care including performing detailed psychiatric examinations and making appropriate diagnosis in keeping with the current edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of the American Psychiatric Association. In addition, you prescribe the indicated treatment orders and interpret consultations, laboratory tests, and other findings.

Daily duties include rendering psychiatric care to all patients in your assigned areas; making daily unit rounds; ordering labs, x-rays, and other diagnostic studies; and conducting consultations as necessary. You also review results of studies, reports, and consultations and provide follow-up care where indicated. In addition, you write a progress note substantiating all treatment and orders.

You may be assigned to provide psychiatric coverage in other areas, as needed. You also conduct Treatment Team Meetings, review and revise treatment plans including medication reviews, goals, and monthly summaries providing direction to the Treatment Team. In addition, you identify patient's medical treatment needs and facilitate patient's transfer to acute care hospital for emergency or non-emergency acute medical treatment.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Possible evening, weekend, and holiday on-call. Completion of a residency or training program in psychiatry which meets the certification requirements of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry. Special Requirement:

Possession of a license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as issued by the State Board of Medical Education and Licensure, or the State Board of Osteopathic Examiners Other Requirements:
