Salary Range: $125,000 - $140,000 DoE

Responsibilities

We are currently seeking a Sr. Quality Engineer at our Torrance, CA location, to be a responsible partner with Design, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering as well as Supply Chain team in reference to production-to-production process for the below -

  • Continuously monitor and evaluate the success of products and processes during production using various quality tools (i.e. MSA, DoE, SPC, RCCA).

  • Support product development phases as the Quality function to support advanced product quality planning (APQP), process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA), control plans, and various problem-solving approaches.

  • Prioritize early identification and mitigation of quality issues to ensure smooth transitions to full-scale production.

  • Oversight of containment (suspect or known) non-conforming products. Provide clear guidance to technicians, shop supervisors, and engineers on quarantining and rework activities. Ensure quick and effective resolution of quality issues to minimize production disruptions.

  • Collaborate with integrated product teams to perform detailed investigations of product and/or component failures. Identify and address direct and contributing root causes to mitigate/eliminate risks and enhance design reliability

  • Focus on identifying and reducing the cost of poor quality, including production-related scrap and rework costs. Implement effective strategies and corrective actions to minimize these costs and improve overall profitability.

  • Support the shop floor in implementing continuous improvement initiatives and advancing a Lean, autonomous production system. Develop standard rework/repair guides, eliminate redundant or unnecessary inspections, and optimize control of critical processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

  • Act as the primary interface with customers on quality-related matters. Ensure timely and effective communication and resolution of any customer concerns or issues related to product quality.

  • Maintain and coordinate Mandatory Inspection Points (MIPs) and quality audits to ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations, including IPC J-STD requirements. Ensure all processes and products meet stringent quality and reliability standards.

  • Generate comprehensive reports related to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Root Cause and Corrective Actions (RCCA). Use data-driven insights to drive continuous quality improvements and cost reductions.

  • Ensure adherence to best practices and industry standards in electronic assembly and manufacturing processes. Provide training and support to engineering and production teams to uphold these standards consistently.

  • Support functions of the below

  • Contract Compliance

  • Flow Down requirements (Internal/External)

  • Quality Assurance Program Plan

  • Programs Review / Meetings

  • Program and Engineering Documentation review

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, materials engineering, manufacturing engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, or another STEM related field

  • 6+ years of quality or manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in an aerospace environment

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency using Microsoft Office applications

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficiency in report writing and data presentation

  • Demonstrated ability to perform effectively in a demanding environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills, with the ability to ensure that processes and products consistently meet established quality standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with components used in space applications is desirable

  • Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance is desirable

  • Experience developing or supporting any of the following products/processes:

  • Complex mechanical/structural assemblies

  • Pre-preg lamination/curing composites

  • CNC machining, forming, bending, and EDM processing.

  • Bonding, drilling, fastening and other assembly manufacturing processes.

  • Avionics/PCBA

  • Brazing (torch, manual, induction, vacuum, furnace)

  • J-STD & IPC 600, 610, 620
