Production Supervisor, Fabrication

Position Summary

Under direct leadership, the Production Supervisor (Fabrication) supervises the production and re-

creation of Singer vehicles in a manner that demonstrates, “Everything is Important”. This position is

responsible for managing a team dedicated to repairing and fabricating automotive chassis and crafting

bespoke parts for final assembly of the vehicle builds. This is a dynamic position that requires the ability

to manage a production schedule while driving improvement in all areas with a focus on safety, quality,

cost, and delivery. Part of your role is to harbor a safe and welcome team environment with clear goals

and expectations. You are expected to set an example with your attitude, attention to detail, listening,

mentoring, and communication. You will be responsible for ensuring that all team members are trained

on operational procedures.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinates and agrees weekly goals with management in alignment with business demands ensuring all areas of responsibility deliver to expectations; escalates at first sign of deviation to plan

  • Coordinates daily work assignments with technicians through daily morning huddles and ensures tasks are completed successfully daily

  • Reports end of day production status for each chassis build and parts assignment

  • Works with Production Manager to prioritize staffing/resource assignments ensuring capacity for equipment and labor is planned and available to meet demand

  • Ensures that the workplace is clean, uncluttered, safe, and well organized to help reduce waste and optimize productivity (5S activities)

  • Ensures that work materials and tools are present when needed and communicate with relevant parties on re-stocking in advance of shortage to reduce delays to production or compromising quality

  • Evaluates, maintains, and repairs manufacturing equipment to uphold a safe environment and ensure consistent, right first-time quality of product; immediately report problems or concerns regarding quality, processes, equipment and/or materials

  • Monitors technicians’ performance during daily production activities to ensure adherence to ethics and safety procedures and provide feedback to Management

  • Uses metrics to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost and ensures regular team communication to drive continuous improvement activities

  • Evaluates work of technicians and provides feedback to ensure constant quality demands are met

  • Organizes and develops employee schedules

  • Recruits and selects new employees

  • Creates performance goals and set deadlines that match with the production goals

  • Oversees work to assist employees in knowing their job responsibilities and delegated duties

  • Keeps track of employee's schedules and manages time records for employees

  • Evaluates employee performance and coaches employees by providing constructive feedback so that they can do their best work

  • Trains employees while adhering to company policies and production standards

  • Works closely with other departments such as Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to improve processes and resolve issues

  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience

  • At least five (5) years of related work experience in an automotive, metal fabrication, and/or assembly environment

  • Three (3) or more years of experience as a supervisor or higher position

  • Technical automotive program graduate or equivalent

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Solid technical background with hands-on experience in an automotive production and/or restoration environment

  • Knowledge of different material alloys and welding processes

  • Knowledge and experience with manual machines

Skills/Abilities and Attributes

  • Skilled with making, restoring, and/or creating custom automotive parts

  • Skilled in the use of measurement, inspection, and scribing tools (caliper, height gage, scribe, etc.)

  • Experience with reading work orders and production schedules

  • Skilled experience reading and interpreting fabrication and assembly drawings, BOMs, etc.

  • Basic understanding of Lean Principles, 5S organization principles

  • Knowledge of metal fabrication methods - cutting, shaping, forming, shearing, etc.

  • Highly motivated individual with strong work ethic who works well independently

  • Able to multi-task and prioritize tasks effectively

  • Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines

  • Proficiency in MS office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Strong competency to independently apply technical judgement, troubleshoot, and solve a wide range of technical problems

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate with Engineering and Production teams

  • Possesses strong leadership skills

  • Able to adapt to constant changing work assignments and fast paced work environment

Compensation

The starting pay range for this position is between $85,120 - $106,400 annually. Actual compensation will be determined by skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
