Director of Human Resources

Position Summary

As part of our global HR team, the Director of Human Resources is responsible for leading Singer’s U.S. people operations, including talent acquisition, employee relations, health & safety, HR compliance, and recordkeeping. Reporting to the VP of People & Culture, the Director will play a key role in developing and implementing strategies and programs that contribute to team member retention and engagement.

This is an onsite role at our headquarters and operating facility in Torrance California.

Essential Functions

  • Leads the daily HR operations for the U.S., including managing the team responsible for employee relations, recruiting, and health & safety.

  • Partners with leadership and members of the People Services team on continuous improvement of HR operations, process improvement, and key strategic initiatives.

  • Facilitates assigned projects and initiatives related to driving employee retention and engagement.

  • Analyzes trends and makes recommendations toward improving People related functions and initiatives, including HR compliance and growing workplace culture.

  • Acts as an HR business partner to US management teams, championing organizational changes, and coaching leaders through transformations.

  • Partners with the legal department on compliance with local, California and federal employment regulations.

  • Manages the review, update, and communication of the U.S. Employee Handbook.

  • Resolves various sensitive employee relations matters, mediates conflicts, conducts investigations, and oversees performance management.

  • Coaches leadership and assists with the enforcement of people related policies, and procedures.

  • Oversees the development and management of job descriptions.

  • Hires, trains, coaches, and provides growth opportunities to direct reports in alignment with our leadership principles and company values.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of human resources experience in roles of increasing responsibility and scope, with success at the Director level.

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a related field.

  • Expert-level knowledge and experience in key HR functional areas including employee relations, and HR legal compliance.

  • Extensive knowledge of California and Federal employment regulations.

  • Strong business acumen, with excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Has the gravitas to advise and collaborate with company executives.

  • A background in a manufacturing and/or start-up environment a plus.

  • Professional certification desirable.

Compensation

The starting pay range for this position is between $177,840 to $222,300 per year. Actual compensation will be determined by skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
