Project Manager, Website Accessibility

Waterfront Toronto (WT) is seeking a Project Manager to develop and manage the implementation of a Website Accessibility Workplan that will achieve Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) compliance of the corporation’s websites in the short term (i.e. by Dec 20, 2024) as well as in the medium term (post Dec 20, 2026).

Key Responsibilities:

· Leveraging work done to date internally and by WTs internal auditor, develop and implement a Website Accessibility Workplan (Workplan) that will achieve AODA compliance of Waterfront Toronto’s two websites no later than Dec 20, 2024.

· The Workplan should consider content categorization, volume, age, disclosure requirements and input from content owners, among other considerations to determine priorities for short term (by Dec 20, 2024) and medium term (by June 30, 2025) remediation.

· The Workplan should give regard to what is feasible in terms of time, cost, resource availability, and WTs approach to honour the spirit of the AODA as possible.

· The Workplan should consider how and when to schedule maintenance to WTs website (i.e. removing and/or remediating content) to minimize disruption while meeting the Dec 20, 2024 deadline.

· Oversee and coordinate remediation work completed by third party remediation service providers procured by WT.

· Collaborate with WT IT and communications departments (as appropriate) to support remediation required to WTs website (e.g. webpages) and content.

· Create guidelines for future website content management to support ongoing accessibility of content.

· Report on schedule and progress towards goals to Project Sponsor (CFO), SVP Strategic Communications and WT management.

· Provide advisory and guidance to WT on WCAG compliance on an ad hoc basis

· Assist in organizing training for staff on creating accessible documents and remediation.

· Other support, as required

Skills and Qualifications:

· Post-secondary diploma or degree in business administration, information technology, or related field.

· Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in project management, with a focus on web accessibility.

· Strong knowledge of document accessibility (technical and non-technical) and compliance requirements to WCAG 2.0 Level AA (in accordance with AODA), and other accessibility standards.

· Extensive experience supporting the accessibility of Ontario Public Service and other public sector websites

· Experience with accessibility testing tools (e.g., Axe, WAVE, JAWS).

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

· Knowledge and use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe and other document remediation tools.

· Certificate in accessibility (e.g., CPACC, WAS, CPWA) will be considered an asset.
