TEKsystems Underwriting Specialist - Property in Toronto, Ontario
Description:
Underwrite and price large risk policies in accordance with company guidelines, appetite and philosophy and within the limits authorized by the Head of Department. Excellent communication skills and outgoing personality are required in order to negotiate and partner with brokers in marketplace meetings. This is not a role where you sit at a desk and underwrite a given vertical, you must be able to work collaboratively with other team member's. Leadership will provide framework and base book of business to the Underwriter and expectation is to grow this book through an 'Entrepreneurship' mentality. Outside of the large general commercial property underwriting, the Underwriting specialist will also be exposed to other specialty risks.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of Canadian LARGE RISKS General Commercial Property Underwriting Experience (Example: $500 million in total property value from Canadian Tire, Metro, Cadillac Fairview, etc.)
Willingness to learn and underwrite specialty risks outside of general property such as: transportation, manufacturing, pulp and paper, mining etc.
Willingness to travel (3 times a quarter to visit main accounts in Mtl, Cgy, Van and internal meetings in US and Germany)
Post secondary education
Nice to Have:
CIP/FCIP/CRM designation
Prior experience with operational power, heavy manufacturing, energy, mining, construction and civil projects
