Job Description:

Department Overview

The Treasury and Balance Sheet Management (TBSM) department of TD Bank is responsible for overseeing the management of TD Bank’s Canadian and US P&C: non-trading market risk, consolidated liquidity risk and consolidated capital position.

The Investments Strategy and Analytics (S&A) team is accountable for delivering on the Front Office and Investments initiatives, including the addition of new asset classes to the portfolio as well as new capabilities. The Investments S&A team develops and maintains investment portfolio reporting and analytics to measure and highlight the enterprise investment portfolio performance, financial impacts and trends and drive value added decision making.

The Investments S&A team collaborates with the Front Office team in developing the Investment portfolio plan and delivery of that plan. The team partners with stakeholders across the organization including various teams within TBSM including Asset Liability Management, Funding, Liquidity, Hedge Accounting, as well as teams in Finance and Risk to manage the Enterprise Investment Portfolio (EIP) - including US, CAD, European and TDS portfolios

Overview of Responsibilities

The Sr Analyst will be accountable for the reporting and analysis of the enterprise investment portfolio performance. Accountabilities include preparing the monthly operating results for the US, Canadian and other bank liquidity portfolios managed by the TSBM Front Office as well as other weekly and daily portfolio performance. The Sr. Analyst will work across multiple stakeholders both inside of TBSM and across the bank to analyze the results of investment portfolio activities including the Liquidity, Funding, Funds Transfer Pricing and ALM teams as well as Finance. The Sr Analyst will identify opportunities for process improvement and partner with stakeholders on implementation. The role assists in various ad hoc analysis into the management and strategy of the investment portfolio and deliver on team key initiatives.

Key Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Maintain, develop and enhance monthly reporting and analytics to explain EIP results, key drivers, sensitivity to drivers and associated income and capital impact

  • Present the monthly EIP results internally to the Front Office and Investments team including the team VP, and externally to Risk partners.

  • Assist in the development and execution of team initiatives including the development and progress toward the teams target operating model.

  • Respond to ad hoc management requests for additional analysis, strategy reviews, sensitivity, deep dive analysis and recommendations

  • Maintain robust, scalable, and well-documented processes

Specific Educational Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree

  • MBA, CFA considered assets

Qualifications:

Familiarity with:

  • Principles of asset/liability management, capital markets, and how Treasury delivers value

  • Bank Investment Portfolios and related products held in the portfolios

  • Bank Treasury processes and how they interconnect

  • Bank income statements and financial reporting

  • Accounting for investment products including hedge accounting

Experience with:

  • Managing multiple complex projects concurrently

  • Dealing with Data and complex EUCs,

  • Strong knowledge and experience with VBA

  • Experience using Python a plus

  • Gathering & analyzing financial data to derive value added analysis

  • Partnering with cross functional teams to deliver on key initiatives

  • Communicating with all levels of the organization, including senior management

  • Simplifying and presenting complex concepts and business results in terms understandable by audiences with varied backgrounds including senior bank executives
