Amazon Software Development Engineer II, Amazon Robotics, Helix in Toronto, Ontario

Join the Helix team and help shape the future of data infrastructure for Amazon Fulfillment Technologies and Robotics (FTR)!

The Helix team is looking for a seasoned software engineer to join its team of passionate, enthusiastic engineers tackling complex data challenges at a large scale. Your role will involve conceptualizing and developing innovative data solutions for our global customers, including engineers, operators, and data scientists. Your contributions will enable them to design workcells, optimize operational processes, and train foundational models, all with the ultimate objective of reducing costs and enhancing service delivery to our valued Amazon Stores customers.

As a SW engineer, you will:

  • Design cost-effective and efficient large-scale solutions that address business needs across the organization.

  • Identify opportunities to converge or simplify solutions, promoting streamlined and optimized approaches.

  • Mentor, guide and support junior team members, fostering a culture of high standards and continuous improvement.

  • Implement solutions leveraging a diverse range of serverless AWS services

  • Leverage AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) to design, deploy, and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC).

  • Develop and maintain solutions written in various programming languages, such as Java, TypeScript, GoLang, and Python.

Key job responsibilities

A successful candidate has an established background in designing, building and operating high-performing, reliable distributed streaming data processing systems of global scale as part of a high-functioning engineering team. You must have strong technical skills, solid project management skills, be an efficient communicator and have motivation, vision and high judgement to stay focused on key business outcomes to deliver results in a fast-paced environment. About the team

We build services and infrastructure for processing telemetry data and metrics. Our services offer data ingestion, computation, cataloging, access controls, quality monitoring, dataset generation, and visualization.

Our vision empowers users with seamless data access and operational insights. We democratize data, serving as a single source of truth. This data supports operations, monitoring, research, and product development.

Our goal is reducing time for customers to onboard and vend data from their respective services, through easy and consistent onboarding tools, visualizations, and seamless access, meeting real-time and historical needs. We unlock these opportunities through streamlined and self-service tooling, minimizing undifferentiated work.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
