What you’ll be doing

As Senior Analyst, Governance & Controls, within the Risk Business Intelligence Office (RBIO), you will apply your strong reporting and data analysis skillsets, combined with an understanding of Risk Management to further RBIO’s purpose of “Acting as a trusted advisor” by enhancing risk domain business intelligence in CIBC. Your accountabilities include taking ownership of RBIO Governance & Controls Framework and provide support to develop and maintain standardized RBIO processes, policies, and procedures. You will be involved in governance compliance, and proactively participate in oversight activities to ensure the production, testing and implementation of reporting aligns to policies and procedures. You will help manage the day to day for the RBIO team supporting the Runbook activities and keeping the reporting inventory up to date. You will also help support the key Risk activities such as Assessment and Testing (Control Testing, Internal and External engagements, Compliance Exercises). Lastly, assist in providing PM Support for new reports or changes to existing reports.

How you’ll succeed

  • Leadership – You will build strong trustful relationships with your team members inside RBIO and with partner teams. You will be accountable for running a project or process to completion by taking on the role of an owner, solving for roadblocks and proactively identifying possible issues for the overall success of the group. You take opportunities to provide advice to your team, including ongoing feedback, support, and mentorship.

  • Data quality – You understand the importance of data quality in reporting and are mindful of the impacts of low data quality to reporting. You are systematic in adhering to the processes related to monitoring data quality, raising data quality issues, and taking ownership to solve them in both production reporting and project delivery setting.

  • Business and data analysis – Working closely with partners such as risk data consumers and risk data providers, you will provide analysis and support to the group with concepts around ingesting, measuring, monitoring, and reporting risk data to regulators and senior management. You will be a reliable liaison between business and technology groups. You understand the processes related to project delivery such as requirements analysis and user acceptance testing.

  • Projects and testing – Identify obstacles or risks that may impact a project’s timeline or success and provide regular status updates to the business. Keep the lines of communication open with stakeholders and escalate issues when necessary. Ensure that all test deliverables are received, approved, and aligned to your project’s timeline, budget and goals. Lead the investigation and translation of business requirements into test cases. Design and manage end-to-end testing activities for various projects across the business.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate experience in project delivery related to data warehousing and reporting, business intelligence, and/or data analytics focused roles in the banking sector. It's an asset if you have proficiency in SQL, writing queries

  • You can demonstrate knowledge In Wholesale, Retail and Capital Markets Reporting with familiarity in accounting standards such as Expected Credit Loss reporting as well as BASEL requirements on Risk Weighted Assets reporting.

  • You have proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

  • You have a degree In Business, Finance, Risk, and/or related field.
