SAP HANA Database Administrator Senior - Toronto in Toronto, Ontario

What you will be doing

For our Delivery Centers, we are looking for an IT Technology Services Sr Consultant with a strong technical background for supporting critical projects & administration in the Enterprise Cloud Services Delivery environment. Beside administration we are part of pilot projects for new technologies as reference for SAP customers.

You will be responsible to drive continuous improvement to increase operation, availability and efficiency. Infrastructure landscape re-architecture and new technology adoption is another important part. Global thinking and a strong customer focus are essential within the new Enterprise Cloud Services program.

Your role will be of a Technology Senior Consultant as part of the Center of Excellence Teams comprising of Database Experts administering Databases, driving critical topics related to Incident Management, Problem Management, High Availability, Disaster Recovery, Backup & Restore among other operational tasks.

What you bring

  • Strong conceptual understanding & knowledge on the RDBMS products in the market

  • Around 12 years of work experience as Database Administrator in Global Operations team (primarily on SAP HANA and ASE Database Platforms)

  • Exposure to the automation tools /scripting or processes

  • DB installations and upgrade, Planning, setup and implementation.

  • Providing technical expertise and support in optimizing and tuning of Systems. Performance Optimization.

  • DB Concept on Security, Backup and recovery strategies, performance tuning, System Copies, high availability, and disaster recovery strategy, export-import, replication is must.

  • Organize / Structure day2day documentation as needed.

  • Willingness to take on-call duty/Weekend tasks during working hours. The on-call / on-shift duty is based on rotation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and managing the database landscape in a large-scale Productive environments.

  • Must have good knowledge of Policy, workflow, group, and clients for Configuring the backup.

  • Ensuring Data Integrity aspects and determining the most suitable recovery technique.

  • Ability to handle effectively and accurately the data recovery scenarios.

  • Clear understanding of Point-In-Time (PIT) and full recovery techniques.

  • Handle incidents around critical systems and ability to failover & failback as needed.

Within the Customer Services and Delivery (CS&D) board area, the mission of the Enterprise Cloud Services (ECS) organization is to run and operate SAPs private cloud offering. Isolated private cloud landscapes are built for customers both in SAP owned datacenter as well as on IaaS infrastructure provided by Hyper-Scalers like Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform or Amazon Web Services (AWS). Services are delivered from all regions (EME/AME/APJ) having a strong international focus and cultural diversity.

As part of ECS Delivery Technical Operations the Database Services Team is responsible for enabling Database Technologies and operating them at maximum efficiency. Beside project delivery and day to day administration we are part of strategic pilot projects for new technologies as reference for other customers. Teams provides stable operational support for customer Database landscapes for their critical business systems.

SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is 109100 - 185400(CAD) CAD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount, and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance. Due to the nature of the role, which involves global interactions with SAP entities, as well as with employees and stakeholders in Canada, functional proficiency in English is required for positions based in the Quebec.
