Job Description:

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

Market Risk (MR) is responsible for managing the ever-changing and dynamic world of trading and non-trading market risk, counterparty credit, margin management and liquidity risk. Within MR, we are accountable for supporting TD Securities and TBSM business objectives in accordance with TD’s risk appetite and regulatory expectations. MR provides independent oversight of enterprise-wide market, counterparty credit and liquidity risks; ensuring all significant risks are appropriately measured, reported, analyzed and transparent.

As a Group Manager, Market Risk – Equity team, you'll be part of a group that is responsible for a number of activities related to the analysis, reporting and monitoring of equity risk metrics such as market risk, VaR and Stress. In addition, the team executes infrastructure changes with regards to the implementation of new or revised risk policies, regulatory requirements, system updates, ad-hoc measurements used by the Bank to monitor market risk holistically. Market Risk team is a global business supporting trading activities in Toronto, New York, Calgary, Singapore, London and Dublin.

JOB DETAILS

Market Risk - Equities

· Support the risk appetite of the bank by managing and supervising the market risk equity team with respect to analysis, reporting and monitoring of the products traded within the Global Equity Derivatives business. Responsible for ensuring that all key policies, procedures, and processes are properly documented and adhered to.

Change Management & Policy Implementation

· Effectively challenge, propose and champion projects to improve efficiencies, in order to provide more effective business support. Understand and assess the impact analysis performed by your team, in order to present your findings to senior management.

Enhancement & Operational Risk (Audit/Regulatory)

· Ensure that internal audit findings related to the products being traded within the responsibilities of the Market Risk team are cleared within the time commitments provided to Internal Audit.

· Ensure effective internal controls exists and are continuously updated for all processes underlying market risk reporting, while adhering to Market Risk standards and Process Risk and Controls Self-Assessments.

· Support in identifying innovative opportunities and help drive these initiatives.

· Evolve analytical and attribution capabilities and business knowledge, and develop skills required for today and future, while understanding, identifying and responding proactively to current and emerging risks.

Collaborate with Business Partners

· Manage relationships with business partners which includes, sharing knowledge and identifying opportunities to leverage complementary skills. Partner with our stakeholders to drive and support change and to assist in meeting the bank's objectives.

People/Team Development

· Provide leadership, direction, advice and empower your team to consistently maintain high levels of integrity, motivation and morale. This should encompass all aspects of people development including appropriate mentoring, coaching and ongoing evaluation of staff performance and leadership skills.

Resource planning

· Establish an environment that promotes respect, inclusion and diversity for individual employees. Adhere to the policies and guidelines of the Bank.

· Carry out regular and proactive resource planning to ensure the team is positioned to deliver against its future mandate. Identify and mitigate instances of key person risk.

Job Requirements

· Undergraduate degree or technical certificate and/or over 5 years of relevant experience

· Knowledge of market risk, VaR, Stress, capital markets industry and market trends

· Excellent analytical, judgement and decision-making skills

· Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion while acting with the highest levels of integrity

· Team management skills to guide and take the team forward while working autonomously as the lead

· Strong communication skills and ability to interact with increasingly senior stakeholders and convey complex business context clearly and effectively

· Proactive and adaptable with the ability to work in a demanding environment while handling multiple competing demands
