What you’ll be doing

The Executive Director is responsible for recommending optimal investment portfolios at all relevant horizons for more than $200 B of assets under management in Treasury-managed fixed-income portfolios and HQLA Investment Portfolios.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role you’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you’ll succeed

  • Strategy- Leadthe portfolio construction and asset allocation across a global team of in-house portfolio managers and traders (Toronto, New York, Cayman, Chicago, International Treasury teams under the direction of VP, Hedge Execution and in collaboration with the SVP Funding & Liquidity. Maintain a total portfolio suite of performance benchmarks, cascading to portfolio managers and traders as appropriate

  • Stakeholder Relationships- Lead coordination of finite enterprise credit risk, interest rate risk, and capital allocation across teams to ensure optimal usage, acting as the primary liaison with Trading Credit Risk Management and Treasury Capital Management in support of strategic objectives

  • Solutions Oriented- Directly responsible for supporting and representing the portfolio management and trading team on all matters related to daily interest rate risk management and HQLA management infrastructure in internal forums. You will also provide business leadership to the technology and operational infrastructure that enables Treasury's daily risk management decisions, overseeing a project budget of $3-5 million.

Who you are

  • You have a minimum of 10 years experience. Comprehensive knowledge of banking products and capital markets instruments, with 10+ years of relevant experience required. At least 10 years of experience with process engineering, business requirements, and project leadership/management in infrastructure development in a trading, hedging, and/or asset management context required

  • Strong knowledge of the financial services industry . Strong working experience and knowledge of trading, accounting, and management reporting systems (or equivalent) required

  • Knowledge of Accounting. Knowledge of accounting and tax matters relevant to hedging interest rate and FX risk for a banking book balance sheet is an asset

  • Knowledge of CIBC’s internal structure by business and legal entity is an asset
