BlackRock Vice President, Head of Canada Marketing in Toronto, Canada

About this role

Job Purpose/Background:

We are looking for a dynamic and creative leader to join our US Institutional, Canada and Latin America Marketing team.

This role reports to a Managing Director, Head of Marketing for Americas Institutional, Canada and Latin America based in NYC.

As the leader of the Canada Marketing team for BlackRock you will be responsible for understanding the business priorities and our clients’ needs, bringing the two together to drive commercial success. The Head of Canada Marketing is responsible for setting and driving the long-term marketing agenda for the Canada market, in close collaboration with the regional and global marketing teams as well as with the local and regional commercial leadership. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in marketing strategy, execution and measurement, digital platforms, team and budget management, and b2b2c client channels. This includes leading, and working with sales, product, integrated marketing and digital managers to drive, the strategy, roadmap, development, and activation of BlackRock’s marketing and digital strategy and execution, owning its overall success. The candidate will promote the BlackRock platform and brands to all client segments with a strong focus on the growing wealth segments.

Location: Toronto, Canada.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define strategic local marketing plans for Canada in alignment with the regional marketing and business objectives, across all client channels—Institutional, Wealth and iShares.

  • Lead and drive performance of team responsible for liaising with the local sales & distribution team to plan and execute key initiatives, including timely local sales campaigns and client events

  • Partner with regional lead to drive the integrated paid media strategy in Canada to drive brand awareness in the wealth channel

  • Support local PR efforts in partnership with regional PR lead and local agencies

  • Maximize distribution agreements and third-party sponsorships with a strong focus on return of investment measurement

  • Partner alongside our Integrated Marketing Team (IMT) to drive digital initiatives across media, content and digital verticals (i.e. web, emails, media, tech tools etc.)

Knowledge/Experience:

  • 7+ years of marketing experience, with minimum of 2 years in a management position including managing a marketing team.

  • Proactive leader with ability to organize, prioritize and execute multiple projects across multiple stakeholders simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment

  • Mix of traditional and digital marketing experience with an eagerness to learn and drive new marketing strategies

  • Experience in driving key branding strategies across paid media channels

  • Budget management across marketing activities and business groups

  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English with attention high to detail, and comfort presenting to senior leadership. Working understanding in French is a plus.

  • Adaptive thinking with a focus on objectives

  • Highly effective in forging working relationships with team members, senior leaders and external partners

  • Experience in financial services preferred, but not required

  • Deep experience in the local Canadian market

  • Language skills: Native in English, Fluent in French is a plus

  • University degree – Bachelor’s Degree
