Ministry Support (Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries) Recruitment and Family Development Specialist I in Topton, Pennsylvania

Category/Shift/Hours per 2 week pay period:  Full-Time / Varied Shift / 75 hours per pay period

Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries is one of the premier employers in Pennsylvania and Maryland. We are a non-profit organization which includes Diakon Senior Living Services and Diakon Child, Family, and Community Ministries.

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for recruiting, developing and maintaining a pool of prepared resource families to meet the needs of children referred to or waiting for foster care or adoptive families. 
  • Assists in the design, development and implementation of a marketing plan to increase public awareness of, and interest in Diakon Permanency Services.
  • Accepts telephone calls from potential applicants and shares program information while collecting information indicating the appropriateness of the applicant.
  • Schedules appointments to meet potential applicants, in their home, within five (5) working days of the initial telephone contact, pending family's availability. 
  • Schedules and conducts monthly orientation sessions either in office or community.
  • Childline & DHS FBI clearance results are requited prior to beginning employment.
  • Mandatory Covid-19 Vaccination Program-need covid vaccine card or file for an exemption.

     

Education/Training: A Bachelor's Degree in human services or marketing normally required; Master's Degree preferred.

 

Experience: A minimum of two (2) years' related experience normally required.

 

ADA: Ability to bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach and lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.; visual and auditory skills.
