SOUTH VALLEY SANCTUARY Education and Prevention Specialist in TOOELE, Utah

Category:  Full time (40 hours per week)

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Pay: $18 hourly   

Schedule: Monday -- Friday; hours TBD

 

GENERAL PURPOSE

* *

The Education & Prevention Specialist has the primary aim of representing SVS (South Valley Services) within Tooele County while working closely with the Pathways Director. Their purpose is to teach the community about domestic violence and its impact, as well as create partnerships with different entities to further this goal. Furthermore, they are to work on events and social media campaigns with both the Education Director and Development Team.

 

South Valley Services is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide services to survivors who have experienced domestic abuse and sexual violence, and help them realize their own strength, courage, and resilience while on their path to an empowered future.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES

·        Maintain notes and documentation on services provided in compliance with Family Violence Prevention.

·        Complete all necessary administrative paperwork and data entry to meet licensing and program statistical needs.

·        Meet weekly with the Education Director to provide updates and reports on progress.

·        Attend coalition meetings as assigned.

·        Assist with providing educational presentations and workshops to faith leaders, congregations, high school and Jr. High students, college students, teachers, and community members about domestic violence and related topics in both Spanish and English, that the Education Programs SVS provides; Teen Dating Violence, Healthy Relationships, DV101, etc.

·        Become an advocate for services, education, social justice, and equity.

·        Attend community events and fairs to distribute information about domestic violence and South Valley Services.

·        Responsible for establishing and maintaining professional business relationships with other agencies to better serve diverse populations and collaborate with government and community organizations to further spread awareness about domestic violence.

·        Translation of documents from English to Spanish and interpretation when needed.

·        Assist Education Director and other Prevention Specialists when needed.

·        Distribute South Valley Services brochures, hotline posters and literature on domestic violence.

·        All other duties as assigned by the Education Director.

·        Learn about all departments within South Valley Services and be able to speak on these departments and services offered at community and networking events.

·        Be trauma informed and respectful when speaking with members of the community and complete any required training necessary or assigned.

·        Ensure completion of assigned tasks and duties.

·        Work closely with the Pathways Director, Education Director, and Development Department on any special events or projects.

·        Participate in team meetings, and when able, attend SVS training and meetings.

·        Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of all client and employee information.

·        Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with residents, staff, volunteers, donors, and vendors.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

·        Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook programs; Knowledge with Canva a plus.

·        Valid Driver's License, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.

·        Ability to travel to various locations throughout Tooele, and at times Salt Lake County, for job-related engagements.

·        Strong public relations skills and able to actively participate in communi y engagement.

·        Ability to work sensitively and effectively with various populations.

·        Strong people, public speaking, and storytelling skills to connect with our colleagues and audiences.

·        Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing in English and Spanish.

·        Pass and maintain a Direct Access Clearance System background check.

·        Obtain First Aid and CPR certification within 30 days and recertify every two years.

The position is primarily remote, with the requirement of being able to travel often.
