Sr. Financial Analyst , Supply Chain Initiatives:

Amazon Japan is looking for a strategic, dynamic, and self-motivated Sr. Financial Analyst to join Amazon Operations Finance headquartered in Tokyo. We welcome candidates from both within and outside from Japan. The position is to partner with Amazon Japan Operations, and will be given responsibility from the start to drive both business and financial decisions. Amazon Operations cover very dynamic and fast growing end-to-end supply chain processes from Inbound, Fulfillment Centers, Transportations (Amazon Transportation) to Last Mile (Amazon Logistics) across Japan, and this Sr. Financial Analyst position is expected to evaluate and quantify new business ideas, execute controllership and reporting for their businesses, and perform data-intensive analyses, collaborate with diverse teams both locally and globally all to drive meaningful changes and improvements to the way we serve our customers – continuous improvements towards the vision.

Responsibilities include:

• Partner with diverse business partners to drive strategic initiatives in our supply chain, better services to customers, and the company’s long term success

• Lead and develop analysts

• Perform analyses, develop financial frameworks, manage complex projects on the company’s important priorities

The role will be based at our Tokyo headquarters with occasional travel to locations across Japan.

Key job responsibilities

●Expertise collecting, analyzing and managing quantitative data and creating meaningful reports to drive business improvement and cost reductions

●Root cause analysis and uncovering core issues using data

●Recommend, develop, and implement policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and profitability

●Lead the development of all weekly and monthly financial close, all planning, forecasting, and reporting models and their continuous innovation and improving the use and ease of interpretation by your SCM partners

●Work with data source providers and technology teams to ensure that key decision data is accurate, automated and timely

●Proven ability to manage competing priorities & providing level-headed guidance during unexpected events

Basic Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree

  • 5+ years of related experience

  • Business level in both Japanese and English language skill (reading, writing, speaking)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to convey complex information in an effective way

  • Proven ability to solve complex problems using data and metrics.

  • Proven ability to develop strategic relationships with business partners.

  • Superb attention to details and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience

  • MBA, or CPA

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
