Description
The Amazon Logistics (AMZL) Planning Team handles the End-to-End planning for JP AMZL, including providing volume forecasts, flexible capacity solutions for in-station and on road operations all year-round, and enables the business to scale for seasonal peak demand and during sale events. We are looking for a talented Peak Capacity Manager, to lead peak capacity planning, and partner with various teams to drive execution success during these sale events.
The ideal candidate is passionate leveraging data to provide actionable insights to improve from previous sale-events, is focused on delivering consistent results, and is experienced in driving execution in a cross-functional environment with multiple stakeholders. They thrive in a fast-paced environment and making high-velocity decisions, working with senior stakeholders across teams and geographies, relish working with large transactional volumes, and are able to navigate highly complex and frequently ambiguous business context.
Key job responsibilities
• Lead Strategic Peak Capacity Planning: Spearhead JP AMZL peak-related planning and execution. Define and implement complex initiatives addressing critical business challenges across organizations during major sale events.
• Drive Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with stakeholders including S&OP, OTR and UTR Capacity Planning, and Channel teams to develop strategies, manage timelines, and ensure smooth information flow. Lead operational reviews and whistle-stops for event preparedness.
• Develop and Track Key Performance Indicators: Design metrics for peak events, analyze results, and ensure delivery against objectives. Drive reporting best practices, maintaining parity with NA and EU.
• Enhance Operational Efficiency: Implement scalable processes and tools to support peak period growth. Ensure improvements by analyzing root causes and incorporating learnings from previous events.
• Facilitate Effective Communication: Disseminate peak plans and updates across teams. Conduct daily reviews during events, driving actions and reporting organization-wide.
• Optimize Global Operations: Maintain communication with EU and NA teams to leverage experience and drive tool improvements. Promote process standardization across the network.
• Demonstrate strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and ability to make high-velocity decisions in a fast-paced, often ambiguous environment. Excel in managing large transactional volumes and working with senior stakeholders across teams and geographies.
A day in the life
As a Peak Capacity Planning Manager at AMZL JP, you'll optimize logistics for high-demand periods. Analyzing data to enhance peak performance, you'll collaborate with international colleagues to align priorities. Working with Operations, Finance, ACES, Tech, and BA teams, you'll solve complex problems to boost productivity during sales events. You'll lead cross-functional efforts to implement innovative solutions for surge volumes, crafting peak readiness plans for leadership. Coordinating across teams, you'll ensure smooth execution of peak strategies, conduct preparedness reviews, and make real-time adjustments. Your focus: driving AMZL's success during Japan's most challenging sales events, balancing customer satisfaction with operational efficiency.

Basic Qualifications
5+ years of program or project management experience
Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, experience with processing and extracting insights from data
Business level of English (verbal & written)
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of driving process improvements experience
Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field
1+ years SQL, Python, Advanced Excel, and database
Proven, successful track record of navigating through ambiguous situations
Proven, successful track record of earning trust and influencing across the organization and leading others cross-functionally to deliver on projects and goals
Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills and an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
Business level of Japanese
