Overview
Opportunity for a driven candidate who is interested in being at the forefront of leading the People function for a fast-growing real estate services company.
The People Business Partner, Japan will be responsible for all HR matters, advice and guidance to the Japan business. The role holder will be expected to create, drive, and implement strategic People plans for the Japan business.
The People Business Partner, Japan will be responsible for creating, driving, and implementing strategic People initiatives. They will partner with the APAC People and Business Leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
HR Leadership:
Designs, drives and implements People Strategy and structure for a growing APAC business; partners with Regional colleagues as necessary.
Requires strong business acumen to supports business planning with the business on org structures and programs needed to achieve business growth;
Design People (HR) organization structure to support a large growth plan over next 3+ years; and leads change management related to org structure;
Partners with appropriate Global/Regional People teams to enhance the Onboarding strategy of new hires;
Performance Management: Drive culture on Performance Management through HR BPs. Where necessary: provides interpretation of corporate policies and procedures; i.e. guides managers in handling sensitive issues in regard to performance management and other employee relations matters.
Transitions – oversee and ensure Transitions occur on time
Counsels management on the proper handling of potential reductions in force.
Provides HR insight into operational issues and goals.
Leads and creates the People P&L/budget for team
HR BP
HR Business Partner for the Japan GWS Enterprise Accounts Employees, Client and Non-Client based.
Supports Team Lead, when necessary, on country recruitment
Talent Acquisition
Partners with Japan Talent Acquisition Lead to customize Talent Acquisition strategy for the country;
Supports Team Lead, when necessary, on country recruitment.
Learning and Development:
Partners with Learning and Development (L&D) to create L&D strategy for the country;
Rollout of training programs in conjunction with country People team such as, but not limited to: Leadership and Management, Soft Skills and Technical training programs
Creates and drives culture with the business on focus of Talent Management
Creates a Talent Management Strategy/Plan; ensures that 6 box Talent Management and Succession planning is ongoing
Supports creation of any needed training programs related to sexual harassment, selection, motivation, office productivity, performance management and diversity.
Governance:
Enhancement of HR Governance Strategy related to environmental factors such as employment law changes, labor markets and unions;
Provides HR leadership for the implementation and interpretation of policies and programs and ensures that country employment regulations are account for in all policies
Data Management:
Use systems to prepare and audits data to ensure appropriate business decisions are being made within the areas of responsibility. Uses data to make educated decisions and suggestions to management.
May perform other responsibilities dynamically as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Strong P&L capability to manage their own People budget
Strong business acumen
Strong communication and presentation skills; proven ability in stakeholder management
Strong Leadership ability to lead growing teams;
Resilience, flexibility and agility is a must due to fast changing environment;
Organized with ability to manage time and workload effectively;
Proven record of providing excellent internal customer service with demonstrated ability to create value and impact;
Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills with ability to persuade and influence others;
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including strong presentation skills and professional appearance/demeanour
Strong knowledge and experience in dealing with employee matters, labour laws/regulations in Japan
Strong data mindset to drive results/outcomes
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and HR tools (ideally PeopleSoft)
Requires strong analytical and quantitative skills.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with various types of client groups and leaders both in country and regionally;
Ability to assess any kind of situation and adapt quickly, making sound decisions while maintaining confidentiality;
Ability to comprehend, analyse and interpret business documents and data to assist with appropriate business decisions.
Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees.
Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees and client groups to take desired action.
Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from college or university
At least 10 years of solid generalist HR experience gained in HR Operations, Employee Relations, Compensation & Benefits, L&D and Analytics with minimum of 7 years leading teams.
Experience of working in multi-national environments for large globally based organizations with complex matrix reporting structures.
Experience in the same or similar industry is a plus;
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
Professional in Human Resources designation preferred.
