Amazon Search Marketing Manager, Category and Channel Marketing Team in Tokyo, Japan

JP Prime and Marketing org is looking for an experienced and passionate Search Marketing Manager to join our Category & Channel Marketing team. The successful candidate will own JP Paid and Free (SEO) Search channels (Text Ads, Shopping Ads PLA, FPL) by creating and managing channel strategy, conducting dive deep analysis and experimentation to improve ROI while driving topline growth for Amazon JP business, and identifying critical product/feature gaps for JP to enhance and prioritize on our global roadmap.

This position is one of the core channel lead positions in the JP Category & Channel Marketing team, and represents the marketing channel to our shopping customers, internal marketing team partners, and global marketing channel partners.

Key job responsibilities

• Own JP Search channel strategy, operation, performance reporting, financial and traffic targets.

• Partner with global teams, category teams, other marketing teams and analytics teams.

• Translate insights into forward-looking opportunities and product/features proposals.

• Design and conduct data-driven experiments to verify hypotheses, test new vendor features, innovate on scalable and automated program design and influence WW product roadmap.

• Collaborate with WW Search team to share and learn best practice, and create synergy between marketplaces for cross-market customer experience innovation.

A day in the life

As the Search Marketing Manager, you will frequently sync up with global (US, EU) counterparts on the progress of product/feature launch and make/adjust plan for local roadmap as well as business impact estimation. You will be responsible for business reporting to Leadership, Finance, and WW channel management on channel performance on regular basis, as well as developing annual channel operations plan. You will find new opportunities based on local experiments to propose to WW and influence their roadmap or build local JP specific initiative.

It is a cross-function, cross-region role with high visibility in front of JP and WW teams.

About the team

The Category & Channel Growth Marketing team manage a variety of programs, both paid and free, that generate sales and customer growth for Amazon Japan. Across critical categories that are under-penetrated on Amazon Japan and channels: including Search (SEM/SEO), Creators (Affiliates and Influencers), social media, Outbound (Email and Push Notification) and Mobile Ads. On the technology side, this team leads fundamental improvements to in-house ML targeting and bidding platforms underpinning the various marketing channels as well as JP expansion of global new marketing tech initiatives and automation to drive scale of their operations. This team is expected to create growth strategies across a range of product families, while also propose and drive change to operating models that enable agile innovation cycles and customer insight improvements to better serve the Japanese customer in their shopping journey.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional non-internship marketing experience

  • Hands-on experience managing digital marketing programs including program strategy, operation plan, execution, reporting and optimization.

  • Deep knowledge of search and digital marketing technology and industry landscape.

  • Ability to proactively identifying program parity, proposing solutions, and driving improvements.

  • Ability to dive deep with hands-on analysis and execution, and capability for scientific decision making; ability to turn analysis into actionable insights.

  • Experience in collaborating with global business and technology team.

  • Language: Full professional English

  • Language: Limited working Japanese (for Search operation)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience creating and executing integrated marketing lead generation campaigns using tactics that include live or virtual events, webinars, email, lead nurture programs, and CRM/sales insights

  • Experience with Salesforce and Tableau
