Google Product Manager, Content Trust Experiences in Tokyo, Japan

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5 years of experience in product management or related technical role.

  • 2 years of experience taking technical products from conception to launch.

  • Experience building consumer facing products.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 8 years of experience in consumer product management, with experience in developing and launching successful products.

  • Experience successfully working across functions (e.g., Engineering, Product, UX, Analytics/Data Science, policy, legal) and teams (i.e., Search, Discovery).

  • Experience diving deep into metrics and experiment analysis (A/B testing) and building on past insights to form cohesive takeaways.

  • Experience distilling complexity into simple narratives, including executive presentations.

  • Familiarity with content abuse, policy, or quality domain.

  • Ability to define and quantify business tradeoffs, in support of the team’s larger strategies.

In this role, you will work cross-functionally to guide products from conception to launch by connecting the technical and business worlds. You can break down complex problems into steps that drive product development.

Our team works closely with creative engineers, designers, marketers, etc. to help design and develop technologies that improve access to the world's information. We're responsible for guiding products throughout the execution cycle, focusing specifically on analyzing, positioning, packaging, promoting, and tailoring our solutions to our users.

User-Generated Content (UGC) such as Reviews and Suggested Map Edits represent a key differentiator for Google Maps and Search. UGC is critical for helping people decide where to go, and plays a role in keeping the Map fresh.

As a Product Manager for UGC Content Trust Experiences, you will work with a team of engineers, multiple Product Managers across UGC, and with UX designers to build a trustworthy and authentic experience. This includes innovation and negotiation for future-facing solutions to address underlying motivations for regulatory and compliance needs across UGC.The Geo team is focused on building the most accurate, comprehensive, and useful maps for our users, through products like Maps, Earth, Street View, Google Maps Platform, and more. Every month, more than a billion people rely on Maps services to explore the world and navigate their daily lives.

The Geo team also enables developers to use the power of Google Maps platforms to enhance their apps and websites. As they plot a course for the future of mapping, they are solving complex computer science problems, designing beautiful and intuitive product experiences, and improving our understanding of the real world.

  • Work across teams to create and execute a multi-year Trust direction and strategy.

  • Define the roadmap, build consensus, and secure support from stakeholders around key abuse and trust building use-cases .

  • Engage with users to understand user problems, understand compliance needs, and deliver solutions through differentiated features in building trust.

  • Understand, in detail, the full stack and interactions of the product on a technical level.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, policy, legal, and program management to ensure accountability and execution against our roadmap. Partner with other Product Manager leads in UGC on product/technical strategy, design, counter-abuse, and contributor incentives.
