ABOUT THIS ROLE

Based in Tokyo, Audible is seeking a Manager, Catalog Operations to support our Asia-Pacific Catalog Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate creation, ingestion, and maintenance of product metadata for Audible's global catalog. You will support the team that receives, ingests, edits, and maintains product information (metadata) and digital assets (audio, images, table of contents) for Audible titles, ensuring the completeness, accuracy, and timely release of all products in the catalog. You will articulate and oversee operational best practices for metadata management, align work and requirements with internal and international stakeholders, and drive, contribute to, and execute projects, workflows, and processes in the metadata domain. Additionally, you will work closely with various teams across the organization to ensure seamless metadata operations, serving as a subject matter expert and point of contact for all metadata-related matters. This role also requires hands-on involvement in the day-to-day processing and maintenance of product metadata.

As a Manager, Catalog Operations, you will...

  • Handle Catalog Management: Process and verify both daily and large-scale metadata update and correction requests received from providers, customers, and internal stakeholders via tickets or other sources, and ensure all requests are answered appropriately and in a timely manner

  • Be responsible for Interdepartmental Content Liaison: Harmonize product-related business needs from various internal and external teams, keep stakeholders informed of key issues and proactively troubleshoot conflicts.

  • Handle Catalog Updates and Issue Management: Assess validity of and initiate product update requests received from providers and customers, and ensure that requests are answered appropriately and in a timely fashion

  • Manage Traffic of Incoming Products: Support the processing queue by gathering all assets needed to publish a product from providers; prioritize products in the workflow efficiently by using various data elements; by tracking titles throughout the workflow to ensure timely publication

  • Manage Catalog Updates and Indexing/Copyediting: Process daily metadata change requests from customers, authors, and content providers via trouble tickets. Index and copyedit product metadata to support daily processing of new titles in both Japanese and English

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in a position of responsibility in editorial/publishing, preferably web-based publishing environment, ideally with proven experience in CMS databases and metadata editing

  • Ability to communicate in Japanese and English for internal/external communications, and metadata copyediting

  • BA/BS or equivalent degree, preferably in Humanities

  • Background in project management and the ability to manage multiple projects or tasks at different stages in parallel and deal with ambiguous situations

  • Experience in stakeholder management and interactions with external partners

  • Previous professional experience in web-based publishing environment, covering areas such as content coordination, content risk management, data-entry and fact-checking

  • Previous experience with ticketing systems and process documentation

  • Experience with systems such as JIRA, Airtable, CMS

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated multi-tasking and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment

  • A self-starter with impeccable organizational and analytical skills

  • Demonstrated experience as a team lead or supervisor

  • A confident and upbeat communicator via written and verbal business communication skills

  • Previous professional experience in the Media Industry, covering areas such as supply chain or metadata management

  • An avid consumer of online media, including books (audio and print), blogs, podcasts, and other digital content in both Japanese and English

  • Experience with Content Risk Management

  • Familiarity with standard XML metadata exchange formats like ONIX or RSS
